This is a very fun course with many challenging holes; especially #12. You must hit the ball fairly straight or you can get in some trouble. There is also water that comes into play on a few holes. Caution; if you are a slicer there are homes on the right on a few holes and they are close. The first hole is on of the worst; keep it left.

An inexpensive course for the average day in the sun where you expect to have a decent round without a crowd. The course is in average shape next to the local air strip for small prop planes that circle throughout your round. The other obstacles, other than the 12th, 14th and 18th holes are the geese and the "uniquely" designed back 9 that intertwine on 3 holes which makes for some interesting inter-fairway plays. The carts are ok, the club house bar is dark and showing its age. However, if it's nice outside, ample patio seating awaits if you need a break from your round. Cannot walk this course as it spreads through 2 or 3 developments. Several hill approaches and tree lined marshes, water hazards and gully's to loss a ball in, pack accordingly.

Overall bad experience.....Golf Course in terrible shape...Holes not marked ....inexperienced bar and restaurant help. Much better Public Golf Courses in Northeast Ohio to choose from!

Great and challenging golf course. fun time with special rates for seniors and an inexpensive breakfast to go with it.Don't hesitate to go and try it out.

Pricing for seniors is very attractive. Treated seniors with respect. made the outing a lot of fun. When we first arrived, they informed us of a discounted meal that went with the outing. Very nice.

Management of Roses Run was notified months ago there would be 50-60 attendees for our 50th high school reunion. Roses Run supplied one waitress, one bartender and 2 chiefs to accomodate all of us. It took 3 1/2 hours for everyone to be served and the food was cold. When we complained to the manager she stated she was in the office. The manager then went outside, sat on deck and drank a beer. She offered no assistance to the waitress or bartender and offered no compensation. Do NOT recommend Roses Run for any venue.

Was freezing in the banquet hall. Guests would not remove their coats. Only one bartender. But was beautiful.

The course was beautiful, but never saw so many rude golfers in one place. Would never go back!

Good layout except for one hole. If you have played it, you know what I am talking about.

I wish I had the same experience as some of the other reviews had. I had my wedding reception at roses run and the experience was horrible! The whole planning process was a mess. The lady who runs everything is hardly ever there, you can leave a Voice mail or email but you'll be lucky if you get a response in 2 weeks. They will promise you the world, but when its time to deliver they don't do anything they say they where going too! On the positive, the food was good, but I had complaints from my guests that they didn't give enough!!! One said they asked for an extra roll and the server said she couldn't have another one. Another guest said when going through the buffet line he was asked chicken or beef, he asked for a little of both and was told no, only one or the other!! Now mind you I paid for 14 guests that where no shows, so there should have been plenty of extra rolls and when i selected this package I was told guests would recive whatever they wanted. The only good thing about Roses run is there bartenders, they where great!!Roses Run has potential, but unfortunately they have horrible people running the show over there!!!

This is a pretty venue in a country club golf course setting. The food was excellent and everyone kept commenting about how is was so delicious! We had Carved Prime Rib, Chicken Charleston (to die for according to our guests!) and Orange Roughy- in fact a couple from Korea mentioned that when their relatives visit the US, they do not like the food, but they definitely would have liked this fish- that is a real compliment because they are used to high quality seafood. Our appetizers were excellent- spanikopita, bacon wrapped water chestnuts and Swedish meatballs. We highly recommend this place for your reception. There is also a patio you can enjoy. Jill, the manager is very helpful, available and efficient. This is far and away the best wedding food we have ever had! My concern in choosing a site is that the food be excellent and bountiful- and here it was both.(Also, there is no country club membership involved in this; it is just in the name of the place.)

Please keep in mind that I'm comparing this course, club-house, and overall facility to a 5-star type country club or 5-star public course you may find in Myrtle Beach for example (or nice country club in Ohio). The reason for doing so is that this course and club-house was built to be a 5-star type experience, but is managed and kept up like a 3-star average "Joe" golf course. If the management spent some time at some half-way decent course in Myrtle Beach for example, they would understand what service and course management is all about. Most of the the high-end courses I've played on take customer service to another level, they make you feel special just for showing up. This place has all the makings of something special, but they treat you OK and have neglected to manage the course properly. The greens don't seem to seem to ever get rolled (this gets greens rolling faster & consistent), they don't manicure the course to a high level (tee boxes and fairways have tons of crab crass starting to crop up in the last couple of years), and last but not least - I've had numerous encounters where management has just been downright to me and other customers. Overall, I would recommend you to play this course at least once or twice. After that, it's not worth the full weekend or week-day rate, but they do have some great specials that are WELL worth it!Strengths:-Club house if beautiful, course if very scenic, fairways are made the REAL way w/ sand/dirt underneath like professional/high-end courses & country clubs (another words, you won't break your wrist when hitting an aggressive style swing into the ball that takes/requires a big divot), greens have great undulation and are normally cut well.Weaknesses:-Course does not get the fine manicuring it deserves...weeds and crab grass have started to creep into the tee boxes over the last couple of years and no one does anything about it. Sand trap edges are not finely manicured, fairways are starting to get patches of crab grass in them as well.-Greens don't seem to get rolled so they tend to run slow, even when cut very short-The staff is nice for the most part, but definitely NOTHING close to 4 or 5 star service you would expect at a high-end golf club, private or public (example, the manager had me wait about 2-3 minutes to greet me and ring me up for golf while talking to one of his employees when no one else was there - it was a slow day and had plenty of time to talk to his employee, but that is typical of the service there, customers do not get priority treatment...I could give a long list of examples).-Restaurant is OK...nothing fancy, nothing over the top, great facility, second rate service & food-Bartenders typically don't care if you order a drink or not, they'll get to you when they get to you

This 18 hole golf course is relatively new and yet has mature trees, lakes, and sits next to a beautiful natural section of the Cuyahoga River. With a huge tudor style clubhouse containing a great restaurant, banquet center and pro golf shop you'd think you were at a private club. Well, in fact it was semi-private at one time, but now is open to all upscale golfers, but without the upscale prices. It's been consistantly ranked among the top 10 most challenging public courses in northeast Ohio. Each hole begins with four and even five tee boxes for your individual level of play. The golf course was carefully designed within an upscale residential community and therefore some of the fairways are adjacent to luxury homes. Beginners and even mid-level players should use wisdom when teeing off (use the closer tee boxes), especially on the front nine. In this town, if a golfer damages a home the golfer must pay for the repairs, so it's best to know your own abilities and play accordingly. Fairways are wide, but lean toward the safe side if in doubt and play the closer tees when needed.The back nine has more trees and their signature 12th hole, which is an incredible par 5 dog-leg challenge down thru a beautiful ravine. It boasts a few waterfalls and a stone bridge. In fall, the tree colors are spectacular.White, soft sand traps can be found near every green and even along some fairways. They are maintained with new sand and in great condition. They're beautiful to look at, but I try to avoid heading to the "beach" when golfing, if you know what I mean!The fairway grass is more like putting green grass, mowed very short and feels like carpet. The fringe of the fairways has a bit higher grass before you reach out of bounds.Granite and marble signs are located at each tee box with a detailed engraved map of the fairway and green. It also displays the yardage for each of the four tee boxes. At the top of each of these markers is a horse head which symbolizes the history of the property. Roses Run Country Club is named for the Kentucky Derby, as this property was once a ranch that raised race horses. All the streets are named for different horse race tracks throughout the United States. Each tee box uses horseshoes as the tee box markers. A very nice touch.There are secured (no one can tamper with them) water dispensers throughout, and his and her seperate bathrooms (one on the first nine and one on the second) with sinks. They are nice brick buidings and kept clean.Also, they'll come around with very nice beverage carts for your convenience. Very friendly staff. Golf rangers are always around to ensure property safety and to keep everything running smoothly so all can enjoy. They are also very friendly and well trained.This is a fun and beautiful course, yet challenging. It's also not expensive compared with other courses in the same league.Electric olf carts are mandatory and they usually don't allow too many golfers on the course at one time. Tee off times are certainly recommended. Proper golf attire is also required, meaning no tank tops or the like.There's also a golf range and large practice putting green available.Overall, an excellent value for a well designed course in a beautiful location. Located in Stow, Ohio (Summit County) right next to the Cuyahoga River.PS: Thursdays are a special outdoor dining experience overlooking the golf course and lake (with fountains) that features live music (summer) and $2 grilled burgers along with other goodies. Quite fun, but not rowdy by any means. They mainly play Jimmy Buffet style music, or other theme nights such as the 50's. Great patio dining among friends.
