wooster memorial park

I love going to run the trails at Wooster Memorial Park! They seem to be gaining more land and extending the trails for walker, runners, and hikers. There are places where you need to cross the river by going through the river, but that adds to the ambiance.If running, be careful on the north side. It is steep and the drop-off is dangerous. Would like to see them do some trail maintenance just to widen the trails into the hillside. Not a fan of putting up fences, just need a bit more space in case one trips over a root or rock while running.Still, an excellent place to visit! You would not think, given how flat this area is, that this "canyon" type park would exist here.

A nice "gem" in Wooster to go hiking. You can choose a nice variety of trails from relatively flat to fairly strenuous. Some trails are narrow and steep so be mindful if you have small children. If the creek is high you may get wet feet if the stepping stones are covered. There are some nice little bridges and benches along the way. The park is especially pretty in the fall of the year. There are non-flushing toilets at the trailhead but no running water.

Nice place to go for a hike about 5 miles outside of town. Several trails to follow, fairly well marked. Some are shorter and fairly easy, some a little more challenging. We were surprised to find hiking trails in the area. We hiked mostly the blue trail around the park and spent a couple hours but you could easily add on the red or the purple trails for a good long hike. Be sure to wear heavy shoes, you do have to cross the creek a few times and may get your feet wet.
