hollywood gaming mahoning valley race course

This casino was just opened the week before my visit. The race track was not completed. Basically, it is a one room casino with no table games, mostly video machines; the buffet was mediocre, restaurants were not yet open & the house was tight and very crowded. Only coffee and juice was available gratis, and well drinks & beer was expensive.

location is nice and new, clean and well decorated. Enjoyed the drinks and live entertainment. Would like to see table play or a least the machine games of table play - blackjack and craps. Would also like to see the space expanded and a place for dancing/shows/entertainment. Would also like to see more restaurants right next to the casino. Right now you drive back to the casino past all of this empty space. Horse betting area is perfect, looking forward to the "live show" this spring.

My husband and I decided to give this place a try. It was very small. Not very many different games. No cards at all (blackjack ect). We asked and they said you can't have table games with horseracing. Must be an Ohio thing because PA and WV do. We had dinner in the only sit down restaurant which is a bar. The food was horrible. We got nachos that were served with what tasted like tomato sauce not salsa. No flavor . I ordered a burger medium with blue cheese and a red wine reduction. It was burnt beyond cardboard texture. Sent it back got a new one still burnt but edible. Dry no flavor at all (blue cheese was like one crumble) . My husband ordered a salad and the chicken didn't look like chicken. If it was they used dark meat. Salad dressing was bland . Would not go back.

This is a casino it is very hard to find there aren't enough physical signs to give directions. the people in area don't know where it is. if coming from the Pittsburgh area be prepared to pay tolls coming and going. once you finally find the casino it is small only 850 video machines no tables and the machines are expensive the drinks are good and there is live entertainment. also they don't give first time players any free play or any incentives. We will not be going back. although we may visit Austintown to eat at Ruby Tuesdays :) very small bathrooms two stalls very odd for a casino.
