It was very reasonable besides being interesting. Our tour guide was very nice. You could pick your flavor of ice cream and buy an extra dip for .50. There were two books which you could look at about Tulsa and Broken Arrow while waiting which were interesting
I have taken the tour with my kids a few times (School Related). Blue Bell is truly the best icecream, next to home-made. My kids truly love watching the workers package and box the product as well as sample at the end. It is a major highlight for them. The staff here is top notch and very polite to the kids. Given this is an actual business, the open attitude is very much appreciated.
This was a great stop for our family - my parents, my sis-in-law, and our kids (ranging from 2yrs-10yrs). The tour is less than an hour, very informative, and kid-friendly. There's not a lot of walking and strollers are welcome. Of course, we really enjoyed the ice cream at the end!!!
It has been a few years since I toured the Blu Bell facility but it was very interesting and informative. I think I got more out of the tour than my kids did! And - we got to eat ice cream afterward. Very worthwhile.
Probably best for kids 10 and under but we still had fun. Cheap family tour, yummy ice cream and interesting for adults as well.
We found it interesting and fun with our kids to see the ice cream being made. It is remarkably simple. Then the best part is testing it at the end!
You walk into the front building. This is where the tour begins and the country store is located. We asked the ladies in the store if we could get a tour. The website asks that you call ahead to make a reservation. We were on our way out of town and forgot to call ahead. They were super nice and turned out they had 15min. before the next tour. ($3 a person, $2 seniors and children up to 14) Our tour guide, Jill, was very informative and friendly. She says that we can take pictures of each other but ask that we don't take pictures of the production area. The factory has huge viewing windows and is very clean. After explaining the process, you are ushered into a theater were they show a short video on the history of the company. Then, the tour ends back inside the country store....where each guest gets their sample of the creamiest ice cream ever in my opinion. Jill told us that their #1 seller is Homemade Vanilla. There were eight choices for the sample. For ice cream that's been setting in a freezer for a while, it tasted like it came right out of the funnel that put it in the container. The sample is two generous scoops. Seeing the process live-in action, gave me a lot more respect for all the hard work that goes in to making the ice cream and made that sample taste that much sweeter. They have items and t-shirts for sale in the country store with their logo. There was a sign in the theater that read, "Our ice cream is so good, you'll wanna eat the carton". So true........they don't sell Blue Bell ice cream in our state. ..Sad face.
Blue Bells tour and guest facilities was excellent, very good for children or grandchildren, generous on their "samples" of ice cream and they have a very good tour!
Nice place to take the kids on a small tour of how they make the ice cream. Grandkids were so fascinated at how it all worked.
we took a group of homeschool children . it was very intresting . the kids really liked the free icecream at the end
Took a tour of the plant with a boy scout troop several years back. It was interesting and mighty cold, even in the summer. I limit my visits to the freezer section of my local grocer now. I'm still a fan. I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream. I guess it still holds true.
This was a great factory tour. There were only a few cars in the lot when we arrived at about 10 am. The campus and grounds were very clean , clearly marked and very inviting. The walking tour through the plant lasted about 25-30 min. Our guide Zach was very knowledgable and knew the answers to any questions the guests had. At the end of the tour there was a big scoop of any kind of blue bell you wanted. Well worth a stop in Brenham.
We were with a manager that worked their so we probably got a few extra perks but this was a great tour and fun for the kids to see where Ice Cream comes from!!
Tour is short but interesting. Free sample at the end of the tour.
Not to be mean. But my wife and I love ice cream and thought this would be fun. Here is how it rolls. They show you a really dated (produced in early 80's) video detailing the history of Blue Bell. Was about 12 minutes long, wasn't terrible, they could have jsut put it on their site or YouTube. Most of the children on our tour got bored with the video really quickly and started talking, getting antsy, and pretty much made it miserable for the adults. Then they take you to an over look area where ice cream is being poured/packaged etc.... tell you a quick 5 minute over view of the process and thats its. No actual factory tour, just looking out of a window to the production floor. Kind of lame. Free scoop of ice cream at the end was the only real boon the the visit.
