I was first of all impressed with the size of the museum which is in an old school building. I was expecting a small museum with maybe one room. --- Was I surprised!!!!The number of Movie Posters, Old Toys Lunch Boxes, was surprising in the number and condition. One of the things that surprised me is how much John Ritter Who played in Three's Company and died way too early looked like his father TEX Ritter. The movie Posters gave a great insight into this.By reading other posts, I expected more than Gene Autry and was pleased with the tribute to Roy Rogers and all the other Saturday Morning Movie Heros of my Childhood. The Museum is well arranged and they Should be proud of their efforts
Came on a rainy day and car got caked with red mud, but worth the trip. If you love the old westerns you'll see photos and memorabilia of all your favorites (not just Gene).
Drove 2 1/2 hours from Dallas to go here to find it closed.Had checked web site before leaving UK to conferm opening times.Do not go unless you can phone before hand to check they are open. Very disapointed
Have driven by the signs advertising this museum for years. This time we took the time to visit the museum. A little jewel of a museum tucked off the interstate and house in an old schoolhouse which serves as the museum and the local post office. I grew up on Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and westerns and I enjoyed the displays and photographs.
it was just off the road and I just stopped by it had alot about Gene and I was one of those kids who grew up with him.
I liked eveything about this museum. It really brought back lots of my childhood memories of going to the movies to see The Singing Cowboy, Gene Autry. There are lots of items which belonged to Gene, pictures of him, etc. A great little trip down memory lane.
Interesting. Just a little place but very interesting stuff. The town was renamed from Berwin or something like that after Gene Autry and he had his Melody Ranch out here. Lots of personal stuff like his bed, etc. Lots of cowbow stuff.
Brought back many memories of my youth. I would recommend this museum to both young and old. They do a great job!!
I went here to get stuff for my dad, who can't make a trip this long. It must have taken them a lifetime and a truckload of money to collect all this stuff. It even blew me away, and I am not a fan of Singing Cowboys. :)Thank you for all your help, Flo. I'll be in touch very soon.
lots of interesting cowboy memorabilia, if you are an old west buff you will really like this place.
If you were raised with Gene & Roy, the way I was, it's a great stop! Lot's of really neat memorbilia & you can send a postmarked Card from Gene Aurty, OK!
We found this museum amusing, being baby boomers, we remember the old western serials & tv series. My dad was a fan of these movies so it brought back many fond childhood memories. The musem is in the middle of nowhere, just as you think you've gone too far a cowboy sing pointed you in the right direction. Great collection of cowboy movie memorabilia.
