historic mattie beal home

It was nice to hear the history about the home. The home is beautiful! The staircase is amazing. You get to take a self tour of the house, they give you a brochure breaking down each room. We were definitely glad we stopped here.

My friend is a docent (new word to me this trip) at the Mattie Beal home. She gave me the grand tour. It is awesome. It is so very well restored and lovingly preserved. I took the time to read the long newspaper article about the history of Mattie's land draw & it was fascinating. It is placed in a hallway and I am sure it is overlooked often. I think it should be placed in a more prominent place, but I'm not sure where that would be that could be easily accessed. It was very nice to be able to wander into each room, in so many restored places, you are roped off. Lovely, lovely home.

For such a GORGEOUS house, the people are terrible. Long story short, they completely screwed up our wedding time, therefore causing us to pay for another venue and messing up already sent-out- invitations. Do not recommend for a wedding at ALL.

My family visited the mansion on the hill this past March and had the entire house, along with a personal guide, all to ourselves and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home is beautifully restored with period pieces and the story behind the home a piece of history - you have to read it for yourselves! Well worth the inexpensive price! Make sure you check out the staircase handrail at the bottom along with the brilliant curved front door. A Lawton must see!

Will go again when we have out of town guess.It is very cool to see how people lived back in the early years of Lawton.

This is an excellent location for a great deal of Lawton history. The method in which Oklahoma, as well as Lawton, was settled offers an interesting historical lesson. The ladies who serve as guides are extremely knowledgeable and easy to listen to. GO! You'll enjoy the hour or two spent in the beautiful home of Mattie Beal!

Not only is the inside beautiful but the story behind the house and family is amazing. A great way to spend a couple of hours before or after lunch.

My daughter took her bridal portraits there and the docents were so kind and helpful. It was a rainy day, but they helped us in any way they could. The Mattie Beal Home is such a beautiful home from the turn of the century and has a great history. Lawton doesn't have much in the way of historic buildings and the Mattie Beal home is a wonderful way to see what a luxurious mansion was in the early 1900's.

Enjoyed touring this lovely home. Such a beautiful place.

Wonderful restored home of an Oklahoma icon. My husband an do even had our wedding here....the stairs are sweeping...the whole house is great for any event. Even had my nieces bridal shower here ..theme was a tea party with hats and all.
