Tulsa has an amazing & unique history just waiting to be explored at the Tulsa Historical Museum. It is located in a majestic 1920s mansion which holds its own interesting history. Exhibits change out during the year highlighting special periods of history since early days of 1836. Guided tours for small groups can be arranged with a phone call or you can explore on your own.
It was cute and the woman at the front desk was VERY nice, but the displays were a bit lacking. I'm not one to watch a movie, so I skipped that. The museum itself consists mostly of large billboard-style boards with photos and history written on them. Boring! The soda fountain and car were cool though.
this place had a lot of history that was very informative. we got a bonus on our visit they had a luncheon for model t owners. we got to see hundreds of model t 's in the parking lot.
Again, I had a very nice volunteer which shared about growing up in Tulsa. The museum had a wonderful exhibit about the depression era and the race riots.
This wonderful and informative "museum" is set in Woodward Park and is a great place to visit and learn about the history of Tulsa. Several rooms filled with exhibits that change through the year and highlight the people, places and events that shaped the history of Tulsa. Worth a visit after enjoying the beauty of Woodward Park!
The 5 moon statue represents the top 5 Native American Indian ballerinas. Each sculpture represents the ballerina in her favorite dance.
The entire grounds of the Tulsa Historical Society are beautiful. Most memorable is the Five Moons sculptures, the five extraordinary Oklahoma Native American Ballerinas. Very pleasant n peaceful grounds n staff are helpful n dedicated--great Tulsa must see.
Tulsa Historical Society is located in a historic home built by one of two brothers in 1919 - the other home is next door and houses the Tulsa Garden Center. Both buildings remind visitors of Tulsa's unique past. Walk the grounds to see sculptures of Oklahoma's 5 world class Indian ballerinas then step inside to reminisce about a city renowned for oil, art deco, the father of Route 66 and much more..
Great way to spend a few hours learning about Tulsa's history. They have multiple exhibits each year that are well put together.
The grounds to this facility are absolutely gorgeous! The landscaping is such that it makes you forget where you are for a moment! Once inside however, you are transported into the rich history of Tulsa. There is a $5 fee to enter the museum, but I highly recommend it. The exhibits are educational and well-presented. Additionally, there are huge restroom and ballroom facilities that can be rented for special occasions.
As you approach the museum from South Peoria looking across the manicured sweeping grounds, you can imagine this setting in the roaring 20's, with two successful Tulsans building mansions side by side, one to become the Tulsa Historical Society, and the other the Tulsa Garden Center. Constantly changing exhibits give a visitor an in-depth look at Tulsa's history, from oil exploration to rock stars. Easy parking and its serene setting make it an easy rich experience for older visitors who feel put off by the hustle and bustle of some museums. A true Tulsa treasure!
