Friendly and beautiful winery and the great thing is its close-in location. One can enjoy the attractions in both Central Point and Jacksonville, making for a really fun outing to share with family, friend and visitors. I would recommend it to anyone. The llamas are a lot of fun as well.
So very glad you had a good time. Thank you for this very nice review. Hope you come back often.Jeanne
I took the grankids here to see the alpacas the lady was very nice she walked us to the back to see the girls first she was very informative about the animals. Then we went to the front where the boys were kept and the kids were allowed to pick some apples and feed them. They really enjoyed that. Its a nice place to visit I plan to go winetasting there soon.
Some wineries are big and kind of industrial. This is a place that is warm, welcoming and makes really special wines. Be sure to make time so you and the kids can meet the alpacas -- they have an impressive group, and there are few places to go wine-tasting where you have additional features like this. I loved their cabernet and their blush wine -- but you must try the others, too. We shared a snack plate for four that was just right, and there are little picnic tables and other beautiful areas (under the arbor, in the art-filled greenhouse) where you can sit at a table and hang out with friends. Whether you're looking for your next great bottle, a new alpaca sweater, a cute piece of jewelry, or something fun for your bar (even their refrigerator magnets are clever), don't miss this place. Loved it!
We decided to visit Caprice because of the great reviews on Tripadvisor- and we weren't disappointed! Jim, the owner, greeted us as we walked up to the patio and began serving us our wine flight. It was a Sunday, so there was a duo singing and playing guitar and violin. Quite a nice touch! Both Jim and his wife were extremely friendly, tending to the guests. After inquiring, we found out that Caprice was an afterthought- after moving from S. California bringing 12 alpacas to settle here! However, Jim's wine is very, very good. We quite liked his Chardonnay- as he pointed to the vines the grapes came from (in front of the car in the picture) and the back of the winery, where he produced the wine! We purchased a bottle of the Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon (thus the tasting fee was waived). It was truly charming and we are so glad we stopped in for a tasting. It's a must!
We drove up to this picturesque winery on a Sunday at opening time and learned about the llama herd, the various fruit trees (fruits are used in certain wines), the gift shop clothing made with llama fur and then, THE WINE! What's not to like? It was all outstanding and we particularly liked the award winning "Maiden's Blush" to enjoy on a hot summer day, which it was. Beautiful location in the Rogue Valley. Many wine offerings and you won't be disappointed in the wine, the ambiance or the friendliness.
Check out the alpacas and then step into the tasting room and get blown away by the really excellent wines this little winery puts out. The owners are really friendly. I've taken friends here on multiple occasions and each time the owners were just fantastic. As much as I'd like this place to be known by all.....I like that it's small and quiet. It feels like my little secret.
Dear Margo A.Thanks for your wonderful review of Caprice Vineyards. We are happy that you so enjoyed the wines, and the AlpacasIt was a joy meeting you and visiting with you. We hope to soon see you again.
The wine is great - love the claret and the cab is smooth and full. Beautiful location, fun tasting room with plenty of items to browse. The alpacas are cute and fun to visit with. The owners are relaxing and very hospitable. Make you feel right at home. We just keep going back :)
Fabulous wine and great company! We loved the entire 'country' feel with the vinyard, alpaca's and boutique. We have found our new place to take visiting friends and family for a delightful day out
Wonderful wine, lovely location and fell in love with Alex the El Paca! Must stop here if your in southern Oregon!
This small winery has a unique twist. The staff was knowledgable about the wine region and are more than welcoming. The alpaca rendered items in the store are impressive. Although I enjoyed the wine and conversation....the alpacas steal the show.
My husband, 2 year old, and I....LOVE Caprice! The wine is good...but the overall experience is one of a kind! The alpacas (and a few llamas) are amazing! The terrain of gorgeous Rogue Valley views, grapevines, and kind people...make this place a must visit for any tourists(or locals!) who want to have an incredible afternoon!
Caprice Vineyards is an absolute delight! The owners are a wonderful couple who make your visit memorable. The wine is exceptional and the wine club participation very reasonable.Alpaca's and Llama's are on the property and provide engaging conversation material as well as a marvelous learning experience for kids and adults alike. Jeannie is a superb hostess with a great love and knowledge of Alpaca's. Jim is a great host who is a cleaver wine master as well as an accomplished woodworker, making unique candle holders from the wine barrel slats. The gift shoppe is fun to peruse. Gifts of beautiful Alpaca sweaters, vests, hats and purses are available for purchase. There is also an extensive array of other gift items, in all price ranges. A great shopping stop whatever the occasion!.Definitely a "must see" on your wine touring journey!
What a great place to take the family!! The kids can enjoy meeting and learning about the Alpaca's,Then the adults can indulge in some wonderful wine tasting, the Cabernet was my favorite full bodied but not to heavy and my husband loved the Chardonnay crisp and clean. The owners Jeanie and Jim are fantastic hosts keeping the conversations lively and making you feel right at home. The have a great gift shop filled with homemade Alpaca gifts and clothing and the wine is very affordable so taking home a few bottles with out breaking the bank is awesome. Caprice Winery has become a regular stop for us everytime we visit Jacksonville.
