哥伦比亚河旁的一处安静所在。距离波特兰很近。再向东不远,还有蒙诺玛等瀑布,沿环形小路步行,景色很美,不用走回头路。
Rooster Rock State Park is one of the most scenic and beautiful parks I have ever visited. Located about 15 miles East of Portland on the beautiful Columbia Gorge River it welcomes, wind surfers, wind kiters, hikers, boaters, swimmers, picnic folks and nudists. Rooster Rock is one of only two legally sanctioned clothing optional areas in Oregon. The American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) has officially adopted this park through the State Adopt-A-Park program. Since 2002 AANR and the park staff have worked together to create a family friendly non-sexual clothing optional recreational area of the park.Sand dunes to climb, trails to hike and all au natural make for a great visit.
This is a GREAT place to swim--all sandy, no rocks, nice, clean, calm water, beautiful views. $5 to get in, take a right after you go thru the entrance gate. After you park, however, it is about a 3/4 mile hike down to the beach, which is clothing optional. There is a section of beach that is clothing required, but it is difficult to get to and honestly, the best beach is the clothing optional one because it includes Sand Island.Once you get down to the beach you can opt to walk about another 1/4 mile in in ankle-to-thigh deep sandy-bottom water out to the island, and it's worth it. Dogs are required to be on a leash, but I imagine if they're under voice control & you clean up after them it wouldn't be a problem as there is plenty of space here to swim and spread out. Very nice area, highly recommend as long as you're not bothered by a little nudity....it's about half & half out there. I experienced none of the "creepiness" a former (and seemingly immature) reviewer spoke of.Pack a cooler, a chair, some sunscreen and maybe an umbrella for shade, and go. The vibe is positive, the location beautiful and people are nice--it's truly an Oregon experience.
This time commitment ng to the clothing optional area it was amazing the people were so friendly and laid back. I did.t see any inappropriate. Ehavior just fun sun seakers. The mudd shoot was on the island . I would be very careful walking accross the waterway to island.take a buddy and keep your stuff in a sealed bag just in case. Scott Mcsorley provided a bonding opportunity through his art /photo shoot.I look forward to seing the results The ONLY downfall was thats pretty hot sand. Dont stray from your shoes.
Be aware that there is a public nude beach to the east of the end of the east parking lot. The state wants it to be family oriented, so if you go that way, remember that nudity is legal, public indecency is not. Rangers in the park hand out cards made up by the American Association for Nude Recreation telling what is legal and not. They also have emergency numbers on them. Ask for a card if you want one. There is a parking fee per day. There are also state yearly passes and free passes to some disabled veterans. No overnighters as the park does close at 10.High water can drastically affect the available beach area. Besides the beaches, the park has lots of picnic areas including group areas. There are no restrooms on any beach, but a good amount in the upper park. No dogs on the beach, but there is a public off-leash area near the boat launch area in the west near the rock itself. During the summer, the Rose City Astronomers and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) co-sponsor "star parties" each month for viewing of the moon, stars, planets, comets and galaxies using members equipment. Free except for parking fee. Check the organizations' websites.Kiters, windsurfers, parasailers and others also use the area near the beach.A day trip from the Portland area at milepost 25 on I-84, this is a popular place.
We got here after 6 PM so there was no fee. We stopped so we could view crown point and the vista house from below. We also wanted to see where the rooster broke off from Crown Point
I was anticipating a cool beach with an optional clothing area with people who weren't sexual, but then I came across many old men "stroking it" (WHILE LOOKING AT ME! I'm a teenage male! Probably the youngest person there.). Then also, I came across two men who were "getting it on". I'm fine with nudity as long as it's not sexual in a public place. This place made me feel gross. It was as if it was a gay beach to hook up with other guys. I am not attracted to that stuff. I wanted to go for the sun.The place, by itself, is really nice. Just the people who go there are not. And very creepy.I HIGHLY ADVISE YOU: DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU DON'T LIKE THIS STUFF! And plus, this stuff is illegal. I'm just emotionally scarred...
My wife and I stopped at Rooster Rock State Park for a picnic lunch on our drive down the Columbia River Gorge during our visit to our daughter in Portland this past September. We parked on the west end and found a picnic table with a good view of the river. We had purchased sandwiches at St. Honore Bakery that morning and had bought some tribal smoked salmon at Hood River. There weren't many people at Rooster Rock that day and we had a pleasant picnic. It was only when I looked at the reviews on TripAdvisor recently that I discovered there is a nudist beach at the east end of the park. We didn't encounter any nude people on the coolish early autumn day that we visited Rooster Rock.
Clean, clear water, great swimming, feel awed by creation. Incredible rock formations, must see at sunset. Love the mud flats-we all had a ball.
What a nice beach! I like the ocean but this far north the Pacific is mighty cold! This beach has very safe swimming areas and the water temperatures are great! Yes, you have to walk a short distance to get to the island and yes there is some mud. But the walk is worth it and the mud kinda feels good squishing between your toes. This is definitely a great place to bring the whole family. All the people who we visited with were very friendly. Very clean. No trash! Great place to skinny-dip and get the tans lines removed. ;-)The only drawback is that on the west end you must wear a swim suit. :-(I highly recommend Rooster Rock State Beach.
We hiked almost all the way around Sand Island. Crossed paths with around a dozen nude people. All very pleasant to chat with. We were nude, also. (The main reason for being on Sand Island.) We were able to walk bare foot the entire time. The fine, soft sand and even the mud felt really good on the feet. There were no rocks in the swimming areas, either. Very clean. We normally haul out lots of trash that others leave behind.Very SAFE for beach-goers of all ages. I suggest that you try the clothing optional section of the beach. You will no doubt find that naturists/nudists are very pleasant and friendly. They also clean up after themselves. BTW: The naturists/nudists self police the beach to keep the "pervs" out.
This state park is on the Columbia River. We love to take our boat out to one of the Islands and the boat launch area at Rooster Rock is perfect. On a warm day, 100's of boats utilize the ramp and it always seems to be quite friendly :)
This is a lovely park, however they will charge a person to get in just to use the bathrooms. It is at the western end of a long trip down I-84 and would be a convenient stop, but to be charged for staying only a few minutes seems unfair to us old folks!!!!
There is all kinds of excitement in Oregon. I am never surprised! This park however has a "nude beach" so there is alot of behinds running around without their bathing suit bottoms! It's all good and enjoyable for the sun bathers. Bathing suits are optional however and lots of folks take advantage of this! Did not experiance any weirdness at all and everyone was having fun relaxing in the sun. There is no cost to visit this state park. WE hiked in off the I-80 but there is parking! Not a family park due to the nude sunbathing!
This is a nice state park with a nice picnic area and beach front to the Columbia River. However, there is an active group of nudists who park their boats about a half mile south of the main park. If you have kids who like to wander away, they may get an eyeful of the sun worshipers.
