First and foremost, Tyee Wine Cellars makes fantastic wine. I'm not much of a white wine fan, but their Gewürztraminer is fantastic. Pinot noir is their signature offering, and I have yet to find a pinot noir anywhere that compares to Tyee's.The venue is fantastic, too. Tyee holds some great events throughout the summer months, and their facility is a great mid-Willamette Valley venue with beautiful outdoor and indoor (under roofs) areas. The venue areas overlook filbert orchards and a wetland preserve, and there are also trails that are great for hiking or taking a bottle of wine and a picnic, or maybe a glass of wine and a good book.If you like wine and you love the natural splendor of the Willamette Valley, you can't go wrong with a visit to Tyee Wine Cellars.
We enjoyed our visit to Tyee. Wine was good, and we appreciated the family story and that the winery is being passed down in the family. I'm glad we were there alone because I think the tasting building - which seemed pretty new - could only hold about 4 people. The best part of the visit was the filberts that are also grown on the property - you can crack and eat while you sip. The weather wasn't especially good, so we didn't get a chance to wander on the walking paths around the property, but that might have made our impression better. As it was, Tyee was fairly standard.
My family and I have been here many times. The Pinot Noir is my favorite. The Winemaker is a pleasure to meet and knows her craft well. The facility at the winery has plenty of space for rain or sunny events and walking through the field of filbert trees is a great experience on a hot summers day.
Classic, small, family owned. Good wine. Experience wine making in a country setting. Twenty minutes south from downtown Corvallis.
First time in Corvalis and the agenda required some visits to a winery. One problem, we were there during the week, and almost all wineries are only open on weekends. Thank you Tyee for being open during the week, and very close to town and OSU. So my wife and I headed out to Tyee, and as we headed up the long driveway we knew we were in for a treat. The vineyard was atop the hill, along with a nice tasting room. The vineyard was peaceful and a great day to just relax and have some wine.
