This is a grand place with a beautiful wine tasting room. Looking east you can see three mountains. The wine is good.
This was our first stop in the wine tour. The landscape is just beautiful and we all took amazing pictures. The staff was knowledgable and the Pinot was good.
Good wines and very knowledgable and helpful employees. Beautiful and restful grounds. Wide variety of wine to suit all tastes.
My daughter and I enjoyed our visit. The lady behind the bar was interesting and knowledgeable. The wines are good and the location beautiful.
I found it to be a peaceful and informative visit to this wonderful Vineyard. The setting is a natural and restive environment. The grounds make for an excellent picnic site which we as a family took advantage of..
When in Oregon I try to visit this vineyard solely to taste their lastest vintage of Muller-Thurgau which they grow on the estate. The 2012 vintage meets my standards and I will order a case when weather cools enough to ship to my home in the Desert Southwest. Pay the $10 tasting fee and enjoy six wines. This vineyard sits on a hillside overlooking the green, Tualitin Valley. Don't leave soon and enjoy the view.
We were fortunate to find this scenic wine estate while on vacation in Oregon. It is owned and operated by the Marchesi family who founded the vineyard in Oregon in 2005 with 230 acres. The vineyard met all my expectations as a place to grow grapes capable of delivering a variety of fine wines. We were fortunate to meet the winemaker Kevin Green a graduate of the University of Colorado and a chemical engineer who spent many years traveling around the world to learn the art of wine making. The tour began in the tasting area with beautiful views of the wine fields. Kevin then shared with us the the basic technique to sense aroma and taste along with the science involved in the actual process of wine making. We also had the opportunity to see, touch and feel the grapes on the vine and learn the art of " Bio-dynamic agriculture which is a method of organic farming that emphasizes the holistic development and interrelationships of the soil, plants and animals as a self-sustaining system. One of the first modern ecological farming systems, This is a truly a friendly atmosphere. Our purchase of wine was packaged by the vineyard for shipment and arrived to our home in Texas ready to share with our friends and family.
Unlike some of the pricer tasting rooms in the area, Montinore Vineyards offers some well structure wines with more than just the two trick ponies of Pinor Noir and Pinot Gris. Yes they do some lovely Pinor Noir and Pinot Gris but do not miss out on some exceptional gewurztraminer. I appreciated Forrest , the knowledgeable staff member whose passion about wine really enhanced our tasting experience . I appreciate the reasonable tasting fee of $5 and because I was not overcharged on the tasting fee, myself and my traveling companions all purchased bottles at the winery and we will buy from this winery in the future .
At our first visit last week, we realized Montiore should have been on our destination wine tasting list long ago! Approachable wines, affordable prices, tasting menu of multiple varietals, friendly and knowledgeable hostess, and beautiful tasting room. Our expectations far exceeded, we left fans. The friendly set up and unpretentious, food-friendly wines make this a place with something for everyone except the most entrenched of wine snobs I'd guessTASTING ROOM: Large and bright tasting room has a lovely interior with extra and cozy seating as you enter, in case you want to buy a glass or bottle and sit and sip. Lovely views from the tasting room. Level in accessible entry via paved ramp which leads from a couple of spots of accessible (aka ADA) parking. Other parking is down-slope of the tasting room with a flight of stairs up. Tasting room hours 11-5, seven days a week. TASTING SET UP: For only $5 you can taste from a preselected set of six wines on a fixed card, or choose any five wines from their extensive list. We much prefer the latter format and appreciated we could choose our own. (The tasting fee is refunded with purchase.) On a scale of 1 to 5, Brittany the tasting room hostess gets 10 for congeniality and knowledge. She made the visit delightful all around. THE WINES: Montinore wines are organic and produced with biodynamic methods. Varietals available to taste include Pinot Noir (several), a blended red called Rosso di Marchesi of estate grown Italian varietals and Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Riesling (several), Muller-Thurgau, Gerwirtztraminer, a blended white called Borealis using the estate grown white varietals, Port of Pinot Noir and dessert wines. We particularly enjoyed and purchased the following......Almost Dry Riesling, a great acid balance and a very nice wine for summer or with spicy food. ...a delectable Port of estate grown Pinot Noir, which they send to the fabulous Clear Creek Distillery in Portland for fortification. (Delightful neighbor David Hill Winery does this with their great Port too. We who drink Port are all better for the winery and Clear Creek partnerships!)...a blended red of estate grown Lagrein, Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) and Teroldego called Rosso di Marchesi after owner Rudy Marchesi.THIS N THAT:1) VERJUS: We appreciate that Montinore is one of the handful of Oregon wineries to produce Verjus. This unfermented juice of unripe grapes and makes a wonderful cooking ingredient for salad dressings, sauces (in particular for fish) or in braises. Montinore's is particularly a good one and a good value at $20.2) NAME: Although one might assume Mon ti NOR ay as pronunciation given the founder's last name is Marchesi, the folks at Ardiri Winery (another winner) told us it is Monte NOR. For Montana and Oregon.
This was a lovely setting with a neat room in back with the wine vats that has a multitude of glass and imported wooden decorations. The variety is truly amazing. I didn't taste the wine but enjoyed the setting and gift items.
This is a beautiful winery with great views and Great Wines. Did you know how the winery got it's name? People from Montana came to Oregon!
I love the wine, the sales staff, and the views- I would be in heaven if I had all this daily!
We created our own wine tour along Highway 47 (our full tour is reviewed on Snootful(dot)Blogspot(dot)com. Our first stop was Montinore Estate on Dilley Road. The house up the hill was a stunner. I thought we might be in for a pretentious sip, but we were in for a fine start to our tour. You can either choose your own tasting of five wines or take their pre-selected flight of six. I chose the latter. Mom picked her own. Our designated driver (the hubs) was offered anything from the soda & water fridge for free. The 2009 Pinot Gris was aromatic and crisp. The 2009 Estate Reserve Pinot Noir was bright and fruity. The 2008 Parson's Ridge Pinot Noir was more full bodied, with berry and cedar notes. Not part of my flight (but sampled thanks to Mom sharing), the 2008 Graham's Block 7 Pinot Noir had a cherry scent, with bolder flavor (blackberry, nuts, woodsy) than the Estate Reserve. We ordered 2 bottles. On the sweeter side, the 2010 Borealis (a white blend) was fruity and sweet, but still bright. The 2010 Riesling Sweet Reserve had honey and citrus notes. A very sweet one. Finally, there was a port-style wine: the 2005 Ruby made from their estate Pinot Noir. Super tasty with hints of fig. We ordered one bottle of this lovely port. Gorgeous view (we were there in the fall, great colors!) Decent tastings, overall enjoyable.
On our way over to the Allison Inn & Spa this past Sun. afternoon we stopped at Montinore Vineyards. The tasting room is beautiful with alot of windows and a deck outside overlooking the vineyards. All of the wines we sampled were very good, we especially loved the Late Harvest "Frolic" Gewertz which we enjoyed in our room at The Allison during our two night stay there. Our pourer was friendly and informative and recommended Red Hills Provencial Dining for a nice meal in the area We took her advice and were very pleased our dinner there last night. Montinore was a very relaxing and pleasant place to sample some fine wines in the Oregon wine country. :)
