I love this vineyards. It's an only vineyards in the area unlike the Dundee area so it's quieter and more relaxing. The view is stunning. Although their wines are not the best, and you can find better wines in the Dundee area, it's a great place to be when you wanna get away from a busy life. Just bring your favorite food or snacks and buy their wines to drink along, you're good to go! They have a plenty of patio tables and chairs as well as a grass area to spread a blanket to sit or lay down.
You probably would have a great experience if you just dropped in for wine tasting. The gardens and view are peaceful beautiful. We went one evening during their summer festival. Whoever the female staff were that evening gave us a lot of attitude. The man was very kind and pleasant. I have been sampling their wine for several years and have not been impressed. If you are an out of state visitor, there are better options for you to explore.
It's back there...amongst the rolling hills and a bit off the road. But, that only lends to the charm of it and the reason you go and picnic away from the crowds. Ours was a day of discovery. Who knew such an old and magnificent train trestle would be appear in front of us, which we then drove under? Who knew that such a lovely scene of vineyard and towering firs would create such charm? Who knew that a dream to build such a lovely home/tasting room could be enjoyed in near solitude and company of just a few friends? This was our experience at the recent 'open house,' offered at Garden Vineyards. We tasted lovely wines and then settled on the purchase of a peppery and sparkling bottle of Sangria to enjoy on their patio. The view in front of us was somewhat grey and yet, we delighted in the stillness of the mid afternoon and great company we enjoyed. As our bottle emptied the patio filled with celebrants of a special occasion, no longer alone to enjoy this hillside 'villa' ourselves, we shared ample seating and grounds with a growing crowd. Truly a charmed afternoon. If we lived in Oregon, we would pack a picnic some sunny dappled day and open house weekend and head for the Helvetia hills of Hillsboro for a delightful retreat! There is a fee for wine tasting which is waived should you become a wine club member.
A lovely setting with a very laid back staff who make their wine approachable and try some cutting edge things without going overboard. We had a great tasting and some delightful conversation with Melinda. It is clear that she and Stuart are passionate about what they do, the environment, and creating unique experiences for visitors and wine club members alike. Worth the drive, worth the tasting fee, worth joining the club, and definitely say hi to their cat :)
We recently discovered Garden Vineyards, a hidden gem in the Helvetia hills of Hillsboro. The drive in is wonderful, so private, and then the tasting down in the gardens and patio, is the perfect place to hang out fo awhile. Their sparkling wine and sangria are my faves, the pinots best when going with the Estate. They have weekly events in the summer, including a movie night. Fun place. Also offer scrumptious picnic baskets.
Definitely recommend if you have a nice day to sit outside and buy and enjoy their wines. Wonderful view of the valley and rolling hills. You can bring your own picnic meal, or they offer food trays for sale. You are obviously required to by alcoholic drinks from the venue if you drink them, but no minimum is required. Many Fridays and other days have live evening music. Call them for the schedule!
We have a fantastic afternoon and early eveing at Garden Vineyard. We had a casual group event and had a lovely time. Food was excellent and home-made bread was great. The wines are very nice and elegant. It is only 30 minutes away from Portland and you feel like you are in Italy or Spain. Great view over the vineyard and valley beyond. Beautiful sun-set the night we were there. The service is great and made it a lovely experience. They told us about live music on Friday and film evening from May till October. And will definitely go back.
This little vineyard is up in the hills and has the ambiance of an Italian countryside estate. I was first introduced to this wonderful getaway when I attended a bridal shower there last summer. They have this beautiful tasting room which overlooks their vineyard. The bridal shower was held in this room, which is exquisitely decorated. Large, comfy furniture, a fireplace, long, family style table and a balcony overlooking the hills. Their own vintage was served, along with mimosas. Yum!I then decided this was the place to have a Christmas Baby Shower, thinking this lovely room would be an incredibly decked out for the holidays - and it was! They have a delicious menu to choose from for your catering needs, all prepared at the vineyard. We reserved the room for a close family dinner following the baby shower - beautifully plated dinners, several wines to choose from (all uncorked and available on the table) and then dessert! A yummy apple cake to eat by the fireplace!Thank you for making this special occasion exceptionally delightful!
