I love, love, loved Quady North's wines. I sampled them once at a festival, so I was excited while down on a trip to Jacksonville to finally visit. There Syrah's are light and silky smooth and their white blend, refreshing. The tasting room is right in downtown making it easily walkable to other tasting rooms, shops, and restaurants and the tasting room attendant was by far the most knowledgeable of all the wineries I visited that day.
The building the winery is in is 150 years old; it was a pony express station at one time. The attendant was wine-knowledgeable, and very friendly; the wines were quite good too, mostly warm climate varietals as you would expect. I was pleasantly surprised. Off the Main St. of Jacksonville, you step into another world.
You know I am Sober Sally, but that Panda guy makes up the difference for all of us. So, while I was out at the curb grabbing a quick pic of the blond bricks with the black awning, it was Davis who came out to welcome me in. And, that Panda stopped pacing and slid inside. He sipped and shared stories to no end. Sometimes that's all it takes to make a place memorable and stay worthy. The one holding down the fort, telling tall tales of fish and game and gold, holding our attention, wins the metal.
This is a must-visit for wine lovers. The wine is outstanding and highly rated and the tasting room is a fun experience. What I really like is that the winery is a family affair, with real people behind a real product. I highly recommend stopping in.
Really good Southern Oregon wines-we had a flight of syrahs and all were good, especially the flagship 2008, but we didn't spring for the $65 bottle...
When we walked into Quady North, we were curious about the winery and what type of tasting experience was in store. Four of us participated in tasting the wines that were being poured for the day. First, we were very impressed by the knowledge of the young woman pour our wine. We discussed the types & location of the grapes, the soil, sun, water, and wine making process. Second, the wines were well made and a delight to taste. We were impressed by the Syrahs, Cabernet Franc, and Viogniers and surprised at the botanicals in the dessert wine that made them interesting to try. The experience was informational, tasty, and fun. The Winery Tasting Room is located on the edge of Jacksonville, OR which set us up for exploring the quaint town.
