Wow, beautiful course! Saw some dear and lots of birds surrounding the course. We played the first nine holes early afternoon midweek. The two of us often felt like the only ones on the course due to only a few players. No problems with bugs this time of year. Loved how well manicured and the overall design. Collared shirts are required on this course. Would highly recommend.
Unfortunately the course was undergoing greens mtce and I was allowed to play on the front nine only. Nice course with some variety but not stunning. Well maintained.
Set amongst a large pine forest is one of the best maintained and challenging tracts in Oregon. The greens were smooth and very fast, at least 11 on the Stimp. The fairways were mowed nice and smooth so that a good drive got that extra roll. Add to the fact that you are playing at over 4000 feet elevation and you are carrying one or two clubs further. An early morning tee time is pretty magical here. The greens keepers are all invisible here and that's a credit to management. With no wind or humidity, but a noticeable pine fragrance filling the air, it was an idyllic morning for golf. There are lots of carries over lakes to tight greens, amazing elevation changes, especially hole #9 which goes straight down the mountain. This is an enjoyable test of golf under perfect conditions. We were able to finish in just over three hours. The pro shop guys are very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed this course so much that we scheduled another round this week.
If you like mountain courses you will love the Running Y. The views are many and the course is in excellent shape. It will test your game but you will be able to score well if you hit it down the middle. No forgiveness when you miss the fare way. Maybe the best course in the Klamath Basin and Rouge River Basin. Take a break and enjoy ..
But make sure you bring your bug spray. Lots of standing water. The hotel staff tried to downplay it, but it was a pretty significant problem. We got eaten alive. My boyfriend played another 18 with Deep Woods Off and had no issues.
Wonderful golf course! Polite and accommodating staff. A good mix of lowland and drastic elevation (Hole 9). Course was meticulously maintained. Fast greens... roll true. Newer practice range balls. SUGGESTIONS. More definitive yardages and targets on practice range will help guests calibrate for the altitude. Possible upgrade to GPS on golf carts.Great experience!
This is one of the nicer WM units we have stayed in. We have a single bedroom unit, second floor with balcony facing the golf course. The unit is comfortably furnished and over all we are very happy with the unit. We are here in midge season, but they are not really a problem (except for the thousands glued to our car!). Lots to see and do in the area. Running Y has an excellent gym, swim pool, tennis, pathways all in addition to the course. The only issue is you really need to go to town about 15 min away, to get groceries, find restaurants. The options at Running Y while ok for dining, are very limited.
I am not interested in Golf but back in 2010 we rented a beautiful property while my husband was working in town, this place is great cuz it has a lot of this to do, gym, pool, spa, golf etc…Beautiful views.
Good golf course but you need to bring your A game. When playing you need to be aware that you are playing at altitude. Your ball can really fly.
I was impressed with this fun but very challenging course designed by Arnold Palmer. The grounds were well maintained even amidst a heat wave and dry spell. The views, especially towards the ranching country and out to the mountains, were wonderful. And as a bonus, you're bound to run into wildlife -- I found myself golfing alongside beavers, ducks, hawks and deer. The downhill 9th hole is especially amusing. By Oregon standards fees were pricey for twilight golf ($70 for 9 holes, electric cart and club rentals) but ultimately worthwhile for a one-time visit. This is definitely a must-golf course if you're visiting Central/Southern Oregon.
This is a well maintained, long, challenging golf course that was designed by Arnold Palmer. There are several tee placements that can make the course a fair test of golf. The course has a Tuesday special for seniors. Your can play the course, with cart, for less than $50.00
Great if you golf, fish or want a long stay. Recommend the houses , however all privately owned so some are tacky and poorly done. Construction on ours was terrible. Close pool if there is lightning within 15 miles and for 30 minutes after even though indoors. Heard of grounding?Needs some more shops to come back after recession shut them down. Beautiful grounds though and has tons of potential. Restaurant ok but not much else unless bring your food.
Stayed in a rental home in the Running Y Ranch. What a treat. The golf course is fun and interesting -- and challenging (especially number 9). The Pro Shop staff is courteous and the condition is really well-maintained. We enjoyed a few rounds here and can't wait to go back! Highly recommend this!
Loved everything about the Lodge and it's staff----a classy group of people and a beautiful environment.
Went to check on the condos for a possible stay next trip, it was solidly booked but the property was lovely.
