my wife made a float, and it turned out awesome, the staff was wonderful and very helpful. It was awesome and we will defiantly go back again. Make sure you call and make reservations, because they are very popular and fill up quickly.
I always like seeing people work with glass and it was neat to watch them blowing the glass and the different art pieces that they made and have for sale. Would recommend.
My husband got to make a piece of blown art glass with the help of the staff here. Everyone was friendly and really nice to work with. We look forward to returning on a future trip!
Make a piece of blown art glass--very cool--or rather very hot! Great gallery of glass too--lovely colors, shapes, sizes, all handmade by locals.
If you want to see how glass floats are made and even make one yourself, this is the place to go. The studio is very inviting and it is fascinating to see how this art is created. The colors, shapes, sizes and textures created are individual, so you are getting an original piece to keep or gift to someone special. It gets warm inside because of the firing furnaces but on a cold day outside it is truly comfortable. You will want to come back here time and again just to watch them at work, make another float to add to your own collection or bring a friend so they can create one too. Imagination and creativity are here - enjoy!
The teacher was great! She explained everything step by step and made it easy to do. I thought I needed to be an "artsy" creative person to do this but not true. Anyone can do that. It was fascinating to learn all the aspects. It was fun and we ended up with a beautiful float. Would definitely recommend!
I had been reading about the Lincoln City Chamber of Commerce project of "finders-keepers" for glass floats during the winter months, but figured the odds would be tough to find one on the beach. I made an appointment to blow a small glass float during my stay and even talked two of my family members into it. We had a blast! And I got to come home with a beautiful glass float from the Oregon Coast! Both of my family members made the votive which is not yet advertised on their website. It is really more of a medium size votive or even flower vase. We loved the experience and staff. Just do it!
Nice place to visit and experience the glass artwork by doing it yourself with professional help from the studio!!! I didn't do that but I watched other people doing it and it was nice.
my husband and i each did a hand blown float and absolutely loved the experience. A nice gal named Sam helped us out and was very friendly, funny and a great teacher. We also met a gal named Kelly who was equally friendly and kind. They were always smiling and you can tell they love what they do. They've also got beautiful items in their store. I definitely will be going back to them on my next trip to the coast. I highly recommend!
We made a glass float in their hands-on class. It was very fun and addicting. The staff were very very friendly and welcomed us into their studio with open arms. Our instructor was very knowledgable and took us through the steps with ease. We would recommend anyone to go and experience their classes. Just beware you will enjoy it so much you might not want to leave. The experience was a joy and we plan to go back on our next visit. Thank you very much!!
awesome experience......very helpful crew, beautiful glass, I want more.... I really would love to make another project...& I will on my next visit.......
We recieved a gift certificate to blow a glass float at Jennifer Sears. At first, it seemed daunting, but we were SO GLAD we went! Otto was an amazing, laid back, patient teacher! As a team we made the most beautiful glass float - and it was WAY bigger than we thought it would be! Things moved smoothly to get lots of people through, and we watched a woman in her 80s learn as well as a young lady celebrating her 8th birthday! Although this was a gift, we ended up spending plenty more in the beautiful on-site gallery as well as at Volta, across the street. The hands-on experience gave us such appreciation for the art, we couldn't help but pick up a few more pieces! This is an experience not to miss, and a wonderful gift idea for anyone you know who may be going to Lincoln City!
We went here as an activity during our vacation to Lincoln city this past summer. We reserved 3 spots; one for my husband, one for our 15-year-old and one for our 9-year-old with me helping him. They have several different projects you can create and my oldest son decided to make a paperweight and the other two made glass floats. The instructors there were encouraging and really great all-around and the kids had a great time. They let the youngest one do as much of the creating as he was comfortable with. Everyone was very happy with their finished pieces. I highly recommend this activity the next time you're at the beach.
my sister took me and my daughter here and we had some glass balls we got to make ..very interesting and a great adventure ..plus a beautiful keepsake !
This is the second time I have been to the studio to make glass. Both times have been enjoyable. This time we had Sam helping us make a bowl. She explained in detail the how's and whys of the process to make the bowl. She did a lovely job and we look forward to going back next year to make more art.
