I'm surprised to read the bad reviews of this place. I live a long way away from here but have been coming here for years with my kids, starting about 10 years ago. Most recently my kids were the ages listed above and they both had a great time. Yes, it is a bit expensive, but we went early (right when they opened) and were the only family there for two hours, two days in a row. The kids got the place to themselves and had a great time while I got to sit and drink a nice coffee drink and visit. We only used the jungle gym, but it was very clean and in great repair. No complaints at all!
Went there on a groupon buy. The food is overpriced tremendously and the place was dirty. Nobody was wiping tables off and the bathrooms were disgusting. Would not recommend going to this establishment
I took my girls when there was a online special and me and my girls got in for free. I have heard about the place before so decided to take them. Dk why ppl complain about noise, it's a kids place you should expect it to be noisy. I think the prices for food were reasonable. I got a elephant ear for $3, I usually pay $6 for one at a fair. My girls ages 3 and 10 really enjoyed it. There is an arcade and glow in the dark arcade for additional price for older kids. There is only 2 bouncy houses which in my opinion there shouldn't be an additional price. They are not big at all.
As a first time customer to Safari Sam's, my family was utterly impressed by the size of the Jungle Gym. Other than that, everything was pretty terrible. For starters, the place is completely run by high schoolers who really do not know what they are doing. We did not see anyone in charge who was over the age of 23. Just trying to get the admissions settled was a nightmare. The cashier did not know what he was doing. Then we went and ordered food. The cashier had no clue what she was doing; she tried to charge me $10 more than what it should have been. Every second she was asking for help. After I finally got my order in, I waited 20 minutes just to get HALF my meal. They did not place the correct order. With apologies, they gave me the buzzer again and I waited another 20 minutes for one of my meals, after being told it would only be a few minutes. I went up to the cashier and asked where my meal was and they didn't even know what I ordered. I was so angry that I dropped their buzzer and walked away. I do not recommend going there... My expectations were high for this place, but we were severely disappointed on how pathetic the customer service was. I guess that's what you get when you let high schoolers run a business.
Safari Sam's seems to not care about customers and they just care about money. Firstly, Safari Sam's is way overpriced. When you pay, they aren't done with charging you. Every section they have, they will charge you for it, unlike other places (such as Chuck-E-Cheese) where you just pay for everything. Safari does not do discounts and if you ask them for it, they will say "No Exceptions." There are kids stealing tokens and tickets there and if you ask for a refund, they won't give it to you. All their arcade games require more than one token to play, causing tokens to get spent too quickly. My child put one token in a machine and it operated as normal. He is very smart with electronics and he knows what a glitch is. He believed that a glitch happened so when it was done, he put another token (his last token) in the machine; didn't work. He handled it by himself by going to the front desk and he told them what happened. He asked for a refund but heres what this employee said to my kid, "The machine takes two tokens, and you can't have a refund." He came back to me and he said that he would've flipped that person off. And that was the last time he would go there. If I was going there, he would refuse to go there, and here's the thing: I don't force him to go. This place is very noisy; you've got kids screaming, crying, and occasionally swearing. The black diamond course caused my son and daughter to get injured, not by entering, but where they had to climb. Instead of lockers, they use 'Cubby's'. Some kids take other kids' socks and shoes and the employees just don't care. Don't go here; take your kids to another place like Chuck-E-Cheese as they are way more friendly. Your child will thank you for it.
If you like to pay high admission fees to enjoy a limited selection of games, inedible food, sticky putters on the putt golf course and to listen and see "kids gone wild" with little or no adult supervision, then this is your place. If you have kids, they might just like it, but it is a nightmare for adults.
If you have never taken your kids or grandkids to Safari Sam's, it is a place with a huge indoor jungle gym that offers food, birthday parties, and other kid-friendly activities. I took my grandchildren there a couple of months ago and they had a great time. With one exception - my 3 year old grandson was on the big jungle gym with the older kids, got separated from his big sister, got disoriented, was getting run-over, etc. and started to cry. I had been watching him, but the layout is such that very often, the children get out of sight and several minutes may pass before you spot them again. The staff member kindly got him out of there and brought him to me. From then on, he played in the area designed for younger kids, and I felt my share of guilt over his ordeal. The area for young kids is not near big enough, nor does it have enough variety. My grandson was what I would say "in-between", more advanced physically than the toddlers that were playing there, but not advanced enough to keep up with the older kids playing in the big structure. Safari Sam's could do more to provide appropriate play area for the kids in the 3-5 age group. The noise level in the place is deafening, but kids don't mind. Parents and grandparents, be prepared and have a high tolerance level.
The pizza was sub par and the burger was a little better. Half the games didn't work and some stole your tokens. Kids had a blast jumping and running around. Wish of was bigger and the food was better.
Cold and wet weekend in Oregon? no problem...head to Sherwood to Safari Sams.Sit at a table and allow the kids to run. Once the bracelet is on their wrists and the stamp is on yours, they cannot get out the door without you...or with anyone else. It is a safe place.I took my two grandchildren, ages 8 and 5, on a Sunday afternoon...the place was crowded. We found a small table by the window, and I planted myself there for about 4 hours. For $33, they both played on the giant giant play structure...one played unlimited golf...and one jumped on the two large jumpy houses as many times as she wished. That translates to $4.13 per hour per child. A bit expensive, but where else can you sit and read a book (if you can concentrate with the high volume of noise) and feel completely at ease that the kids are entertained and safe? The food? I saw pizza and they do have other food as well. It seems a bit expensive, but we didn't go for the food. They each had one ice cream cone which was $2.50...and yes, that was expensive for what they got...but it isn't a restaurant. It is a playground...and it well suited this grandmother's purpose.
Don't bother to buy their deal vouchers! They have so many fine prints. Even if it's not printed on the voucher, they would say the rule is on their website, and find an excuse not honoring the voucher. The supervisor "Jay" is not so nice. I asked very nicely if he can honor the voucher or give me any discount. But he acted as very strict, said no exception. Finally, I told him I'm going to write a bad review online. He said that I'm threatening him, and also said if I was nice to him, he would have honored my voucher, LOL! What a bad way to do business. It does not seem they want return customer. This place is noisy and crowded. Overpriced. It's hard to supervise your kids. Not good for small kids. Wi-Fi does not work. I was given a password, but could never obtain IP-address.
I think this place is overpriced on everything and the food is tolerable. There is way too much stuff crammed into the space. I think the kids had a good time but we won't go back.
It seems like it has everything that a kid would like. I went in there it was a bit too noisy for me.
Great way to burn off energy in the winter. Go before school gets out and during the week and your kiddos will have the place to themselves!
Very reasonably priced. We usually visit Safari Sams once a year for my sons birthday. They have games, miniature golf, bouncy house and a jungle gym. It keeps the kids very busy. The adults usually get a table and order the yummy pizza while the kids play. The kids visit for a couple bites and then they are off again.....we have never had a bad experience at this place.
Safari Sam's is a favorite place to take children whether or nor they are having a party. There is so much for them to do and it is an inexpensive way to spend an afternoon. Highly recommended--take some children along and see their eyes light up when you tell them the destination!
