The best view is from Vista House, but this stop is more protected from the elements and easier to park. Nice view up the Columbia (not down), and a decent place to stop for a respite while traveling the short Historic Columbia River Highway. A good place for a biker to take a break.
The one time we visited there were quite a view visitors and tourists. I would have preferred to have no one, but it was fun watching everyone trying to get the perfect "travel picture". The view is tremendous down the Columbia River Gorge and historic Crown Point can be seen in the distance, as well as the rolling hills across the river into Washington.
I took my girlfriend up here and she was in AWL. Several year ago I went up here to take a sunset photograph and it has been one of my favorites ever since. You can't go wrong coming up here to overlook the Vista House and Columbia River.
A nice place to stop, pull over have a quick bite while enjoying the breathtaking view! One of my favorite in Oregon!
The view of the Columbia River on the day I was here was breathtaking. Its a nice place to spend some time seeing the river and taking some pictures.
It's a nice place to stop and take in the valley. It's along the lines of Vista house as well as being on the same road.
Easy access scenic viewing area. Ample parking. Breathtaking views. Compact area. Easy in and out. Somewhat touristy but not overwhelming. No food, no bathrooms, no store. There are three informative monuments/plaques.
This is the first stop along scenic Highway 30 and it provides great views of the Columbia River Gorge, including of Vista House which is the next stop on the highway. I would recommend you don't drive by this spot. We almost did and would have regretted it.
Beautiful view of the Columbia River from here. It was the first stop on our drive and had easy access in and out. Definitely worth the stop.
Never make the mistake of telling your group that we are stopping briefly for "only a scenic outlook". Pretty sure I will never live that one down. What a beautiful start to our 9 or 10 days in Oregon, absolutely stunning view!
The Portland Women's Forum State Scenic Viewpoint is just that and nothing more. A great viewpoint to see the east into the Columbia River Gorge. There are no facilities here beyond the parking lot and a sign or two. Still, you really ought to stop. It won't take long but the view is amazing.
After checking in at our hotel this is usually the first place we drive to when we come to Oregon. We love the Columbia River Gorge and this view point is breathtaking! This viewing area is also called Chanticleer Point. It has wonderful view of Crown Point and the Gorge and we usually get stunning photos of the area. No facilities here but it's an easy drive over to Crown Point where the Vista House has restrooms.
You will pass by the women's forum if you go to vista house from the highway. Great view. View itself is better than what you can see at vista house. So why not make a stop ?
Awesome view of the Gorge, doesn't get any better! The weather was fantastic when we were there and we could see for miles!
You must add this to your places to visit while visiting Oregon. As I first laid eyes on this site I was breathless. It was absolutely beautiful and I couldn't believe it. It doesn't cost anything and you get to see the true beauty of Oregon.
