I love looking at all of the unique handmade items at Saturday Market. There is a lot of talent there at reasonable prices. If you have questions, the maker is the one selling. There is also yummy food.
This is one of the most unique and diverse places I have ever been. Lots of food and Crafts, and the Artists are just amazing. Rarely do you get to meet the folks that make the things you're buying, but they're all right there (The Maker Is The Seller) so you can ask questions about their skills and craft, truly a one of a kind market place!
Rain or shine this Market is sure to delight the senses! There is an abundance of one of a kind artisans and all the color and harmless stimulus a person could ask for. Whether showing friends from out of town or just spending a leisure Saturday in the Park blocks it is the place to be on a Saturday.
The most fun place to be in Eugene on any Saturday from April through October. Every conceivable type of arts and crafts, great food, music and general ambiance. Don't miss it if you are in town!!
The Saturday Market here is as unique and diversified as you can get. There is something for everyone. You can spend $5. or $500. or more, depending on what you want. Great for souveniers if you are from out of town. The quality is excellent and vendors want you to be happy with your purchase. The atmosphere is fun and eclectic. You never know who will be striding by. The food cart has excellent high quality food and really good chocolate chip cookies. This market is the oldest outdoor market in the US and should be on your list of things to see in Eugene.
Ten yrs ago, when I first went to the Eugene Saturday Mkt, I was amazed at the amount of excellent arts and crafts there were along with great food booths and diverse music. When I attended last year, it was still as great as ever; covering two city blocks, it supports a vast array of different artists, from painters to printers to fiber arts to original clothing to sculptors and jewellery, not to mention the amazing farmers mkt across the street with organic produce. Would highly recommend as a day out. Also, there are quite a lot of fun and unusual looking characters wandering around that could only be seen in Eugene.
First of all I never understood why Eugenes Saturday market was only on Saturday and not on Sunday too like in Portland. Secondly, over the years it has almost not changed. It's basically the same people so on the same things it was sold for the same inflated prices. Aside from that, the food court was not very impressive and across the street if you're really looking to hang out and have a juvenile time you can hang out with the kids in the Wayne Morse free speech part. All in all, Eugene has a pretty small Saturday Market and it is pretty lacking in true diversity.
Food that is amazingly fresh and reasonably priced. If you can't find something interesting to buy it probably has not been made yet.
The Saturday Market is a great gathering of local artisans and good cart food. The atmosphere is fun but can be cozy if you are one who doesn't like be quite so close to one's fellow Eugenians. The Farmer's Market area is not to be missed. Fantastic local and (mostly) organic veggies, fruit, meat, eggs, cheese, plants, flowers, garden starts, on-the-spot roasted peppers, hazelnuts, candy, pastries, bread and honey (I am sure that I have forgotten something!). Plus, it's incredible fun to be able to talk directly to the people who have labored to bring you the food you are purchasing. It's hustle and bustle and have that lovely, open-air market feel. We go every Saturday.
Enjoy a delightful hour at the Eugene Saturday market. Vendors selling handmade crafts are all around you. Look closely at the beautiful Jewelry and roam through the racks of stylish tie-die. Don't forget to stop over at the food section where you can try their delicious lemonade and famous burritos. The farmers market is full of colorful flowers and spectacular finger picking fruits. Have fun even without spending any money.
Amazing arts and crafts that are handmade by the vendors. The food is excellent with nice grassy areas or covered tables to sit at. there is live music that is family friendly. Eugene's Saturday market is definitely a destination spot.
It was a lot of fun to walk around and check out the vendors at both the market and the farmer's market. Most of the vendors I considered purchasing items from were selling them cheaper than they did on their websites. Several were willing to bargain a bit more. The farmer's market was awesome. Everything from flowers and produce to baked goods and pulled pork sandwiches. There was some live music. Due to it's location in downtown Eugene there are some transients/homeless but nothing that would make someone feel unsafe. I will say that it is probably a good idea to leave the dog at home as there were many sections marked "no dogs".
Tasty food, lots of quality handmade goods, and a farmers market too. This is a must visit for anyone from out of town. They have so much great stuff to see, eat and hear. There is live music all day and a variety of things for everyone to do, young and old.
This was a first time visit to this Saturday Market and it was terrific. So impressed how big it was and the uniqueness of the vendors. Highlight was the fresh foods, produce and such. Great Day, and I will try and return, but live out of town.
Spent a relaxing and entertains morning with a 3 year old in tow. There was an amazing storyteller by the food vendors and lots of crafts to be had at reasonable prices. Can't wait to return again only next visit.
