Last month, my wife, daughter and 9 yr old granddaughter visited Eugene, OR. We had made reservations for a private class at the Studio West glassblowing studio. The price that we were charged was quite reasonable ($160 for our group). When we arrived, we each elected to make a paperweight (they offered other options of items to make). Our teacher was wonderful and we had a fun and educational time. She worked with each of us individually and my granddaughter was thrilled with working with hot, molten glass, adding various colors to the glass, shaping it, and especially with her paperweight. Since we had to leave Eugene that day and the glass needed to anneal and slow cool, they shipped the paperweights home to us to arrive after we got home. The weights arrived on time and with no damage. We recommend this attraction wholeheartedly and without reservation - especially to families with children 8 and older.David F.
I was trying to sell my daughter on Eugene as we were on a college tour and booked the 3 of us a glassblowing class at Studio West as a "bonus" for the weekend. It worked~ The staff were amazing and we not only had a fantastic afternoon but walked away with some awesome mementos from our venture.
We are very sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your finished product. Hand blown glass is full of imperfections and we do explain this on our website, some times glass cracks, it can come out uneven and the color have bad reactions with each other. We do make a point in each class that if you mix colors together that they can turn dark and brown, if this was not mentioned during the class we apologize. Studio West makes a point in giving each customer 5 star treatment and try and help each student come out with the best finished product possible. We were kind enough to ship you your glass free of charge because you lived out of town (shipping is not part of the class fee). Again we are sorry you were unhappy with your finished product, but that is just how glass works some times.
We were looking for something fun and different to do while spending some time in Eugene OR. My daughters loved it and we all learned a lot about glass and then got to take home our hand blown ornaments. Fun, entertaining, hands on, different. A great afternoon. They were also very accommodating for my daughter in a wheelchair.
Very interesting. Defiantly wroth the money. If you are in Eugene I think this is a must place to go to! We enjoyed it a lot!
We had a blast . Very informative and helpfull . Great staff , you guys rock! Thanks for helping make a great vacation.
My family and I went to Studio West an made paperweights. The experience was like no other! Instead of just sitting and watching someone make glass they give you a hands on experience.
My sister and I have never done anything like this before, we were looking for something different and we found it! Our Glassblowing expert and teacher was a young man named Kyle, he was so patient and kind and a very good teacher. We liked it so much, we both would do it again if we are ever in the area. The glass ornaments turned out beautiful, a great momento for a fun time well spent. Thanks Kyle!
We visited the studio for a 3 pm session. Ciara was our instructor. She was very knowledgeable and made it a FABULOUS on of a kind experience for our four children. Each of them made their own one of a kind ornament. They loved it and we all thought it was a wonderful experience!!!! It is a must do for sure!!!
We had a blast today learning how to make glass paperweights. Our instructor, Kyle, was very knowledgeable, informative and patient, which made the class enjoyable. We cannot wait to pick up our "masterpieces" next week and to take another class later this summer!!!! We highly recommend this to anyone who is curious about glass blowing or would like to learn something new.
After reading the great reviews and fun experiences people had at Studio West four of us stopped by to check out the experience. Within minutes of meeting the owners we decided to try our hand at making some glass pieces. We enjoyed about 2 hours of time in studio learning about how the art of glass blowing works and how to be safe in the process. We now each have a piece of hand blown glass and great memories. Highly recommended.
Initially we thought we would get a tour but we actually were able to make our own! Al and Kiara were outstanding making it fun and an excellent learning experience. Highly recommend!!
I've been trying out glass blowing for several years, so when I was in Eugene for a conference and saw Studio West I just had to stop in. Ciara and Alejandro were wonderful, so I booked a class for later in the month. I've been to four different studios and enjoyed all of them, but this was by far the best experience ever. Alejandro gave each person in the class a chance to play with a blob of glass and use the tools before we ever started our pieces. He explained and demonstrated everything so we were comfortable with the tools and procedures. He let us do as much as possible, but was helpful so we got good finished pieces and were safe the whole time. Even though I live in Portland, this was worth the drive. I'll be back!!
Went here with my sister for a wine stopper glass class. It was so much fun! Alejandro was so patient and helpful. It was better than I could have expected and well worth the cost of the class. They also have some terrific gift ideas available.
I booked an appointment as a suprise for my husband. We worked with Ciara. It was a great experience. Lots of fun and informative. We plan on coming back again for another adventure sometime in the future. The cost is also VERY reasonable compared to other places i've seen that do these types of classes.
