Not only is the variety of Rhododendrons amazing and fantastic, but also other varieties of plants and trees are wonderful. The paths are gorgeous, very picturesque place. There is a covered picnic hut and uncovered places with lots of tables and seating available for people to sit, relax and enjoy a snack or a meal. Good parking available.Very good place for kids, safe (adult supervision is required though) and educational.Gorgeous landscaping and views of the city. Neat and clean bathrooms- good architecture of the bathrooms for a change. We need to invest more art and aesthetics in bathrooms, bridges, road side railings, walks, etc.Great place for family and individuals. Lots of hiking and trekking area across the road on the other side of the Rhododendron area. Drinking fountains and bathrooms available throughout the place. If you spot a cougar shoot with camera not with a gun (we need our wild life), always call the authorities- keep their number handy. But it's a rare sight most of the time and year. Have fun!:)
This is more of a neighborhood than a park. The flowers in the park itself are very beautiful and it is a well maintained and quite park. However the park is in the middle of a university neighborhood and really offers nothing to see other than the flowers. If you are looking for a walk it is a very short one, if you are looking for views there are none.It is near Pres memorial which marks the location where he passed, it is worth the trip to see the surrounding neighborhood as it is the nicest one in Eugene but don't expect much more from it.
this park is a wonderful mix of old and second growth semi wild areas combined with a world class garden that features azalea and rhodies. seems like there is always something in bloom. great walking paths and even a cougar has been sighted recently.
Took the wheels off an old skateboard and hiked the mountain at night for some well-lit sledding action. Great fun, would have loved to see it not covered in snow though.
It's within the city of Eugene and has nice views looking out over the university. Beautiful trees and several bird species and a deer. A few other hikers but pretty quiet and peaceful retreat from downtown.
Peaceful, relaxed, and a great central BBQ/picnic area at the top. An easy walk from downtown with the only elevation gain as you walk up through the park on well maintained trails. You can drive up and park at the top if you so choose.
Great escape into the Rhodo garden or on the trails. A bit of a drive outside of town and not well marked, but it has good parking
The Dude and I walked for several miles on the paths in this pretty park and we attempted to do some geocaching. Geocache was not there but didn't matter! The rhododendron park was so green and pretty, and although the flowers were no longer in bloom the greenery was gorgeous. Easy to get to, well worth the visit!
This park is absolutely beautiful. I'm from Los Angeles so seeing so much forest and breathing in all that clean air was wonderful. I could stay in this park all day and just listen and feel the nature around me. I highly recommend it.
Not the easiest to find (use your gps or a map) but gorgeous to the max. Go in May if you can, the rhodies are popping. City view is great, gardens are beautiful and walking path. Small parking lot. Area adjacent has picnic/wedding/reunion areas with big fireplaces and tables (rent). If in Eugene it is worth the trip, its really nice, if tucked away.
This park is one of the reasons we love Eugene (and Oregon, for that matter). Such a serene and comfortable place and so alive on warm days. Plus, a fantastic place to go on Mother's Day when all the rhodies are in bloom. If you're lucky, you'll catch a glimpse of a beautiful Ragdoll-looking kitty who would love to play catch with you and help you locate your ball amongst the flowers. Don't forget the camera! Lots of portrait opportunities.
Lovely setting in the hills of Eugene; however, the park could use some attention. The flowers are beautiful, but a bit overgrown with weeds. Can't beat the beautiful rhodies in all their glory during the spring flowering season.
We enjoyed a stroll through the beautiful Rhododendron Gardens followed by a fitness walk on one of the park trails and a picnic lunch. Most trails seem to be in wooded areas so it would be a good place to walk even on warm days.
A walk in the forest. Smell the rhodies in the large garden, picnic in the meadow, feel nature all around.I love Hendrick's Park. 45 plus acres of natural, groomed forest.
This is a wonderful park--a real gem! If you need some cardio exercise and want to be in a lovely and varied setting, you can hike uphill (and down) on the wooded side of the park. For a different experience, try the stunning (especially in April and May) Rhododendron Garden, not far away. It is perfect for a more moderate stroll, though it has enough varied terrain to provide cardio benefits if you are willing to explore a bit. I love this park and only wish I had not waited so long to discover it.
