This is a fantastic hike that is both short and close to Medford. The view at the top is worth the hike and the plants and animals are both unique and beautiful. If you bring a dog beware there are rules.
On a clear day this is especially amazing. I went last on a rainy day to lower Table Rock. I took my kids along and we walked through intermittent rain. We did make it to the top but due the flat nature o top it was far to soggy to actually walk along the top easily. We enjoyed the view and turned back. An average person should find this hike mildly strenuous in a few places, but overall easy and an out of shape person will find it harder. There are benches along the way to rest and a nice gravel path. The views (even in the rain) are worth the hike!
Any time is beautiful. Spring is special with the rare wildflowers. Great view and fun place to eat your lunch.
amazing views! went up in the fog and on the way down I found that there's a killer view of Mt. McLoughlin. Can't wait to go back and show The Dude!
this is an awesome place to see and to hike... the hike to the top is an easy hike and once at the top the views are awesome...so be sure to take a camera, bottle water and a lunch....its a great time for all
This hike is a nice day hike. Bring water and a snack to enjoy on top. The last part right before you get to the top is a bit steep but short and the view is well worth it. Use the bathroom before you head up as it's your last chance!
Both are wonderful, relatively easy hikes to nice views. Close to the city, so can hike in the mornings and still have a matinee play in Ashland. Very different hikes in each season. Falls are pretty, summer mornings are nice, early, springs are spectacular.
We hiked the Lower Table Rock trail. It was very easy to find the trail head and it was well marked. There are a few informational signs along the trail; we skimmed them, but they did give some good facts. The trail was fairly easy to hike... I am totally out of shape and there was a slight incline on your way up the trail, but nothing crazy. Once you get to the top, keep walking along the old flight line (now just a path) and it will lead to a nice view of the town.
The upper, and Lower Table Rocks have amazing views. The hike up the Table Rocks is enjoyable, and Fun. The views are stunning over the valley! I enjoy hiking the Table Rocks .
This is a great scenic drive. Beautiful farmland and quaint little towns. Farmland is beautiful especially SAMs Valley. Lovely drive.
This is a favorite class field trip, which is how I went the last time, as a chaperone. Best in the spring before the vernal pools dry up, and the flowers are at their best.
Nice hike about a mile up then take your time and enjoy the top walking around the edges. Take your camera for the awesome views of the valley. Go up early in the morning during the summer before it gets hot.
I went at 6:am which was the perfect time. By the time I got back to the car it was very hot. Once I made it to the top is was so pretty. We brought snacks and had a mini picnic it was so much fun.
Hubby did both the upper and lower which are located at different places I might add. I managed the lower as a bad knee and back hinder my hiking. The lower was a challenge for me due to the medical problems and the 1.4 miles mostly uphill. I did manage it and loved it. Great workout and once to the top you have a huge level area to wander about and take photos, rest, have a picnic etc. You won't be disappointed with the views nor the climb up. Hubby is fit and said the lower was a challenge for him but he also managed and had some beautiful photo work to prove it also ranks highly on our lists of awesomeness.
We hiked Upper Table Rock on July 2, and really enjoyed it. We were there by 8:00 a.m., as the days were consistently in the mid-upper 90s by 2:00. We were warned to stay on the path due to the copious amounts of poison oak off the trail, so we did make sure we stayed on the path. The path was crushed rock in most places, sometimes single file wide, sometimes two people could walk side by side. There were occasional roots and larger rocks since it is volcanic, but nothing horrible. Do wear sturdy shoes. We hiked in tennis shoes, which were fine. Additionally, we were warned not to go off path because of rattlesnakes. We did not see any at all. The geological history is interesting (volcanic). The trail was mostly gradual uphill, but steeper in a few places. We all definitely got a good workout. If you are not in good cardiovascular shape, you can still hike, but you will need to take your time and take lots of water if you go in the warmer months.Once we got to the top, it was a great view of the Rogue Valley. There are some interesting rock formations around and we enjoyed exploring the top of Table Rock. We did not get an opportunity to explore Lower Table Rock while we were in Medford. If you are in the area, and would like a local hike that is moderately challenging, but can be done in a matter of 2 hours or so, I'd recommend this hike. It is a good workout and the views are amazing. It would be great to be up at the top at either sunrise or sunset.
