We love camping and floating the rogue! Such a great way to eacape the summer heat. Great for friends and family of any age...kids love it! An ongoing tradition!
Can't think of a better place to live. Great for fishing and rafting. We enjoy watching the Canadian geese and all their many interesting behaviors. Fun to see the goslings in the spring. Once in a while we see the playful river otter and the busy muskrats.Valley of the Rogue State Park is a great place to stay or enjoy a beautiful walk along the river.
Grew up rafting the Rogue and miss those summer waves! The water can be cold so nice on a hot Medford day! Several companies rent rafting gear, or you can bring your own. If you are not familiar with rafting a guide is highly suggested. Beware life jackets are required by law (wisely so) and if you are caught with beer - you are looking at open container and RUI - yeah...I know sounds funny but I've seen it happen many times. If you are in a group, expect friendly water fights!
This little town right off I-5 is a fun stop for a quick river hike or nicelunch on either side of the river. You pass over the Rogue river and the town on I-5 so it is easy to find.
The Rogue River is pretty. The town of " Rogue River" is a cute little town, very friendly people, The Park, by I5 is a cute little park, on the River.
Love the way the river travels through the various towns. Very peaceful and beautiful to picnic by the river, especially as the season begins to change into Fall.
Beautiful drift! Lodge hopping was the best. If you haven't done it before be aware that most of the lodges are NOT marked.
The Rogue River is well known for its trout, steelhead, and salmon fishing. I spent 12 hours on the river floating with my guide, and he put me into some serious fish!
We took our Grand-kids on the jet boats out of Grants Pass down the Rogue River. They loved it. The driver/guide is knowledgeable and kept us informed all the way. We had three boats go out that day and we played cat and mouse most of the time. Be prepared to get wet. Getting wet is the name of the game on the River and we were ambushed by other boaters along the way using water cannons.
You'll love it. So many different parts. Some favorites are near the ocean, wild and scenic area, Touvelle island and park, up by Shady Cove…all wonderful.
I have kayaked the wilderness section of the Rogue many times. It is a scenic trip with class 2 and class 3 rapids with 2 class four sections. The wildlife is abundant, and the scenery is excellent. I have gone once with a private party and several times with companies who guide rafts and kayaks down the river. It is a great experience.
Tubing the Rogue is the best. Jet boats are fantastic!!!! Great for all ages. Very beautiful and a great place when the valley is 100 degrees
