We stopped by on a sunny Sunday. The tasting room was attractive and we stepped up for a tasting flight. The girl at the room was very unwelcoming. In fact, she was telling other patrons that the day before she called a neighboring winery to tell them to stop sending people her way.I don't know too many businesses that can turn business away but apparently their tasting room hostess is in that position. One of the most enjoyable aspects of visiting wineries is the conversation and information shared with the tasting room staff. That was sorely lacking at Roco. The flight only consisted of 4 wines and was $10. I would not go back and would suggest visiting neighboring wineries instead of a cold shoulder visit to Roco.
Roco was our first stop during a two day (six wineries) self-guided tour and it turned out to be our best experience. We chose Roco because we had tasted a bottle of Roco pinot noir two years earlier at Bistro Maison and wanted to see if it was still excellent. Every pour was superb. Moreover, our wine server was friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging: everything one wants when they're paying to taste wine. As others have mentioned, there are few other tasting room servers who take the time to explain how the wine is made, where it's made, etc. etc.We ended up buying a mixed case and we can hardly wait to get it so we can figure out what special occasions will warrant opening each bottle. Does the end of daylight savings day count as a special occasion? With this wine, we just might consider it!
Roco Winery is absolutely a "must visit" while you're in Oregon wine country. The setting is beautiful- rolling hills of vineyards, breathtaking views- and the tasting room is perfection, both in ambience and service. Our hostess on the day of our visit was Jessica, who was both incredibly gracious as well as knowledgable- we had a wonderful time tasting their amazing wines and chatting with her about Roco's story and the history of the Willamette Valley. We thought that the prices were very reasonable for the quality of the wine, and joined their Wine Club so that we could continue to enjoy :) For fabulous wine and a great overview of the Oregon wine country experience, this is definitely our favorite place!
My husband and I have visited Rocco multiple times for both wine tasting and a Winemaker Dinner. The wine is always exceptional and the service is great. We have visited many other tasting rooms and we never get the service that we do at Rocco. They do a full explanation of what you are tasting, how it was made, and anything else you might be interested in knowing. The owners are wonderful people and truly love wine and their customers. I know I can always open any bottle of wine from Rocco and it will be great. Definitely worth visiting!!
My husband and I always make a point to swing by ROCO when we are in Oregon wine country. The wines are some of our favorites and we always have a good time chatting it up with whomever is pouring in the tasting room. Definitely a must visit!
The three of us walked in, and we were the only ones there. Nice guy was pouring that day. He was very knowledgeable. $15 per person to taste a flight of five pinot noir's. That would be refunded if you purchased 6 bottles or more. (one of the $15 per 6 bottles of wine). The cheapest wine was a close-out of $19 each. Average price of wine was $50 a bottle which is a little rich for my blood. Beautiful setting.
