My husband and I made the Ribbon Ridge walk, visiting multiple wineries along the way. Hands down Utopia was our favorite! What an amazing experience meeting and enjoying the company of the wine maker and his daughter. The tastings were very generous and we enjoyed everyone. I am not fan of Chardonnay but hands down this was my favorite. I was so impressed we bought a bottle - my husband was super surprised. It was great to learn about the wine process and how each wine is selected. If you are in the Ribbon Ridge region you must stop here. Great experience!
When I read this review I was sorry to hear that the reviewers experience at Utopia was not everything they hoped it would be. As the owner and winemaker I feel it is very important that visitors have an opportunity to meet me and to learn about the winemaking philosophy. Therefore, I make every effort to always be on hand at the tasting room, but, occasionally I am pulled away for other urgent matters that require my immediate attention. I only wish that the B&B manager in question would have notified me in advance of their guests visit so that I could have been sure to be available that day and time to meet them and pour my wines for them. I hope that if they visit Willamette Valley again in the future they will give me the opportunity to make it up to them.
Excellent wines and very friendly personnel with two Bocce courts available to enjoy with some time and wine on this beautiful site. AVA Ribbon Ridge, simply put fun with yum!
We enjoyed our visit and our tasting of Utopia Wines. It was particularly interesting talking with the proprietor, who was riding his tractor when we arrived. He was very gracious and shared his joy of living his dream, after years in the corporate world.
Excellent wine and atmosphere, couldn't ask for a better experience. Will be returning soon. The pinot noir is the best ive ever tasted.
A really great tasting visit. Some of the best Pinot from a very knowledgable man. Talked about whole cluster pressing and showed the result in his wine. Took time to talk and share his wine even though he was so busy getting ready for an IPNC tasting that evening.
Very enjoyable visit to a family owned vineyard and tasting room-winery. Lovely service and attentive hosts
My girlfriend and I stopped by Utopia today on a day of wine tasting. It is a small family owned winery and we were fortunate to meet Dan, the owner and winemaker. Dan was amazing. Completely knowledgeable and super friendly and he truly loves making wine. And the best part was every single wine they poured was truly outstanding. No joke. There wasn't a bad wine we tried. They were the 4th vineyard we have been to this weekend and they were by far the best. Of you are coming for a wine tasting weekend in the Willamette Valley, you mist stop by and try their wines.
It was late in the day, darkness falling, 25 degrees out and Christmas on the horizon. We drove up to the tasting room with nothing more than a need to try one more winery before heading home. We (5 of us) were warmly welcomed into the small, comfortable tasting room, and received an exceptional introduction to Utopia Wine. We all loved the wines and the Owner.
Our driver took us to this place for our last winery of the day. It was nice to just sit down and learn directly from the owner. His wines are pretty good, not the best, but we really enjoyed our time. It was very relaxed and casual. The dessert Riesling is pretty delicious too.
I went here two years ago when we couldn't find the winery we were looking for and it was near closing time and we found a gem. This is definitely not the most developed and refined facility, but their wine is awesome and Daniel, the owner, is a great host. Nice to actually talk with the owner and winemaker instead of someone who is just a pourer. I've learned more about wine here than any other winery I've ever visited. A lovely experience!
I love Daniel's wine. Highly recommend the Paradise or the 2007 Pinot Noir. The Rose is not to shabby for an inexpensive bottle ($20). The whites are not my favorite but that's just my taste. Would recommend their fall harvest dinner too. I'm a member and have gotten others to join. They take large bus groups (how I first visited) as well as small parties. Feel free to bring your own snacks and make a day of it. I've brought my young daughter there ( 9 yrs) and she did great.
My wife and I visit a lot of wineries. This place rates towards the top for friendliness and customer service. The hilltop location is a great view. I just received my first wine shipment and it is fantastic. This should be a don't miss spot on your Williamette tour.
I visit Oregon every year for wine tasting. I found a hidden gem this year - Utopia. I liked it so much, I went back for 2 additional tastings and bought more wine. Daniel is very friendly and knowledgable. I look forward to visiting again next year and being a member of this wonderful wine club.
My husband and I always include Utopia in our trips to the wine country. Their wines are consistently impressive and their hospitality welcoming. During our last visit, we took a picnic, opened a bottle and enjoyed their lovely new deck. Utopia wines are winning awards and their prices are reasonable.Dan was also willing to donate when I recently asked for a contribution to a charity event I was working on.
