This is a nicely done archeological site where one wouldn't expect it. Well laid out with an excellent written guide. Gave me a new perspective on the Fremont culture.

The site had a short self interpretive trail which was interesting and informative. However the excavation of the village itself had been filled in to preserve the artifacts. Only a few recreated foundations were visible. I think it was worth the spot since it could be seen in a very sort time.

This BLM site is not very far outside of Baker, NV (a five minute drive), and well worth your time if you are visiting Great Basin National Park. It is the site of a small, ancient native American village. The whole place was dug up in the recent past, but reburied for later study, leaving only the outlines of several adobe buildings that used to stand here hundreds of years ago. The parking lot is large and well laid out, with sheltered picnic areas -- a great place to rest and spend some time. There is a trail guide for a short walk out to the buried ruins. I won't give away the ending, but the end of the trail guide makes it clear your walk out was worth the time. Someday we will know what really happened here. After dark this is a *spectacular* place to view stars, planets, meteors, or whatever may be happening in the heavens on that night. It's so dark at night that you can immediately see the Milky Way upon exiting your vehicle.
