The weather turned unseasonably warm for winter and we decided to take the RV out for the long MLK weekend. Our first thought was Lake Mead, but we've heard good things about the Lakeside RV park and wanted to give it a try. We were very happy with the park, the support staff and the casino. The lake is small, but well kept and peaceful and the beach was a nice place to sit and enjoy the day. The park is very clean, relaxing and well maintained and the staff was friendly and helpful. The casino is small by Las Vegas standards, but everyone was great. The restaurant/buffet also wasn't huge, but the food was very good and the prices were excellent. This was a great place to get away and relax and we will go back again. As mentioned in other reviews, there is no cable TV hookup, but there are a good selection of over-the-air HD channels and most of the major networks are available. Contrary to what some people have said in older reviews, there is free Wi-Fi that was rather good from our space.
Great egg/omelette maker, super pecan pie, decent baked chicken. The rv park has a large grassy fenced dog run. Grass is hard to find in Nevada, most dog runs are all gravel and my service dog has a preference for not splattering on herself!
If you are a roast & gravy lover, you will really enjoy the pot roast served here on the Monday buffet.
Very Friendly folk, Lake needs some attention, kinda smells. But it could be the fish too, so worth dealing with if you can FISH!
Lakside Casino has the best breakfast deal in town. 2 eggs, bacon or sausage, and pancakes or french toast for $2.99. And coffee is always 99 cents. The atmostphere is nice and casual. Service is fast and friendly. Also sandwiches and dinners are a great value.
If you need "flavor up-the-ying-yang" the food at the restaurant will not be to your taste. The food is wholesome and not garishly flavored - just general. Prime rib on Saturday is great. Friday fish, shrimp, and crab legs is delicious. I never order from the menu since I like to see what I will be eating and the buffet offers this option! I would recommend the buffet for those wanting a good meal with all-one-can-sample and eat. The restaurant is mostly smoke free. The servers are very responsive. The price is perfect!
We stayed here with our RV. The service was perfect. We, as most tourists, had no budgetcards so the receptionist directed us to the casino to make a housecard. With that card he gave us a discount of 25,- a night (and we stayed 2 night). What a service!! The RV park was very beautiful only minus was that there were a lot of ants :-(
Ever since golden gaming bought this place they put some improvements in but the rv park, casino and restaurant have gone down hill. Me and our friends used to love the rv park but since golden gaming bought it the have cut back on the staff and have rude employees. They let the kids run amock thru out the park and the pool and I swear half of them are not even staying there and nobody checking if they are. They quit heating the pool and hardly ever check if the people there are permited as nobody checks.
Lakeside was purchased by Golden Gaming so my wife and I thought we would give it another try - bad move. The menu is diner fare and tasteless. My wife had tomato soup right out of a can and barely warm with a grilled cheese that was cold. My omelet, a ham and cheese, was OK, but the waitress never showed with a coffee refill or my toast. We left and we won't be back.
We live in Pahrump, and went out to Lakeside to stay a few days in the RV park. The park is a real oasis in the desert...large shaded sites, super lake/water features. The sand beach invites you to dig your toes in the sand while sipping a cold drink under the umbrellas. As for the casino/buffet, we would recommend going into Pahrump. The smoke was almost enough to choke you, and affects the quality of the entire visit. The buffet (bar-b-que night) seemed tired, not refreshed, and the dessert selection area needed tending. What was offered was dry and tasteless, relieved only by the frozen custard, which most people were enjoying. We enjoyed our stay at Lakeside, and will return, but not to eat at the buffet.
We had been there about 8 yrs. ago & had a great time so we went back & were somewhat disappointed. Didn't seem to have as many machines. They were not paying off. It just seemed to have gone down hill. (Maybe it was just us), but only stayed about 1/2 hrs.
Great sites with lots of grass, trees and a lake in the middle. But what makes this park great is the people in the RV office...Bonnie, Don, Ashley and Mathew. They are always working hard to make your stay at Lakeside exceptional. This is our third year here....the first year we stayed 3 months, the second year we could only stay 2 weeks and this year we were here almost 2 months. We love it.
Small hometown Casino. Have good food, and a super buffet. You can play some and enjoy the scenery. Very nicely landscaped get a way.
I arrived at the RV Park without a reservation, wanting to stay one week. I want to commend Don at the registration desk! He worked hard to find me something that would work, whichmeant I had to move twice, both to sites almost adjacent to one another so NO PROBLEM! This park gets a 10-10-10 rating by ood Sam, which it deserves It is almost 100% clean; I'd give it a 99% because there is goose poop on parts of the paved walking trail around the lake. Back in sites are easy to maneuver; hookups are excellent. Wi FI is fine, except I had to keep logging in every day, which was a pain. Maintenace here is exceptional; we had a strong wind which blew a lot of tumbleweeds into the park on a Saturday., Monday morning there were numerous crews cleaning up. It's an easy 4 mile trip from center of town.
This RV park is exceptional. A small lake hosts a bounty of waterfowl and other birds. We woke in the morning to the cooking of doves and were visited at our door by 3 ducks and a foot looking for breakfast. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with paved roads, sites and pathways;well-tended grass and greenery abound.Pedal boats and kayaks are available for use in the lake. There's a small beach, an inviting pool and spa, and a children's play area. In addition to the small (smoky) casino and restaurant, there's a convenience store and gas bar. The rate for a regular site is $30.; Passport America is accepted. This is an excellent location for day trips to Death Valley. The only negative is low water pressure in the showers with a bit of a delay getting hot water.
