A nice short tour of a mine. The guide was informative and the history of the city is interesting. The bar could use some dusting.

A great tour. The tour guide was truly an old miner. He even looked the part. The mine is dark and chilly with low 'ceilings'. Hard hats are offered at the beginning of the tour. Being 5'2" I didn't feel like i needed one. I think I was the only one of the tour who didn't hit their head. It's amazing to see what conditions the miners had to work in, keeping in mind there were no lights other than candles. Take the tour and have fun!

Truthfully, I only lasted about 10 minutes because as we entered deeper into the mine (which is like a small tunnel with low ceilings) I started to feel claustrophobic and had to exit the tour. Apparently, the average miner was 5'4". My sons (8 & 11) stayed on the tour and were excited to get to wear hard hats. When the tour ended they ran excitedly to tell me about everything they had seen in the mine. They found the whole thing fascinating and learned many historical facts.

The tour guide gave so much information about the mine and life at that time for a miner. He was really enjoyable. $6 for adults . We took lots of pictures. Short wait time and family friendly. You will like this tour.

We went on the Ponderosa Mine tour last week. While on the tour, I noticed that the cavern was expecially cold, and shadows lurked in the darker parts. I bet the mine is haunted. All together, the tour was fun and full of excitement. It would be nice if it was longer, but after some time, I realized that the part of the mine open to the public was renovated, and quite possibly, the other half is not safe for tourists. Good to check out on a whim; but be forewarned that you'll be taken 54 feet under the ground.

Wow. This was a shocker. At one point in this tour, the guide asked everyone to move closer to him. Apparently we didn't do what he wanted or fast enough because he yelled at us and shouted, "Sheeet." Several small children were in the group. Frankly- a scary experience. Skip it, especially if you have small children.

We sat at the bar at the Ponderosa Saloon waiting for the next train tour but then noticed the signs for the Ponderosa Mine Tour. We opted for the tour instead and we're glad we did! The tour guide was great, so funny! He really looked like an old miner. It's not a long tour, about 25 minutes, but well worth the $6.

This tour was excellent! The guide was great and very informative. Walking back into the actual mine gives you a real sense of how it was for the miners. What a life, what a hazardous job! Watch your head and footing. There is a lot of information to look at before you go inside. Make sure you take time to look at the displays. $6 at the door and $5.50 at the visitor's center. Well worth it. By the way, just try and see your hand when the candle it out!
