Such a nice, well kept, and informative little museum. Lots of local historical displays. The staff is super supportive and very friendly. With no admission fee (donation requested), it is an extremely worthwhile interlude on a travel schedule. Located just off of Highway 95 going north out of town, it is a little hard to find. Just ask; most people will know exactly how to get there.
Great rock collection for rock hounds to view!!!! Lot's of informative info for folks unfamiliar with the area.
This is a great museum to see the history of Humboldt County. you are greeted when you walk in the front door by a very nice and knowledgeable person. She explained some of the history of the museum. There are cars and tractors and other vehicles. There are some early mammal bones. The admition is free but donations are appreciated. Please don't miss this attraction.
This is a super hidden treasure. Well displayed history and enjoyable stop. They are supported by donations - be sure to help them out, no admission fee is charged.
We really enjoyed this small museum. It had alot of town history and information. Very nice displays. Glad we took the time to look and learn. The admission was free but they asked for a small donation. Worth it!
They have done a good job of displaying artifacts from the area--a wide variety from cars to hats to Indians to mammoth bones
Very well kept museum with artifacts from winnemucca's past as well as old car & buggy collection. A nice, quick stop, glad we did!
The museum is two stories, full all kinds of area history, including reproductions of a Wooly Mamouth skeleton found in the area. We were very, pleasantly surmised at the quality of this museum in a town of 7,300. We visit lots of small town museums. This is the best in our experience, so far.
The Museum has two floor in the main building and several out buildings. we did review the main building but we ran out of time to see the out buildings as we had prior appoints. the lower floor had primitive modes of transportation while the upper floor had a very old school room layout. Indian artifacts and Mastodon bones and tusks with a history of where they were recovered. we were going to walk back to Winnemucca when we left the museum and the lady running the place was kind enough to give us a ride. It was a hundred and four degrees outside. There isn't a set fee for the tour of the museum but they ask for a small donation.
On our travels across the country we have found wonderful museums in small towns and this is no exception. The museum gives a lot of history of the town and a lot of local artifacts. There is a nice collection of very old and rare automobiles. The cost is a $3 donation. This is a must stop.
Excellent little museum. Lots of interesting items and facts about this historical area. Very educational! Very knowledge and friendly staff! A must stop if in the area!
The hours make this a must-see stop. The museum houses some amazing local artifacts. Who would have guessed that Winnemucca had a Chinatown? ( Remember the Transcontinental Railroad?) There are also some wonderful Indian artifacts. You'll be glad you stopped by,
