I stayed at both the Harveys and the Harrah's during this business trip to Lake Tahoe. The casino at Harvey's Lake Tahoe is usually pretty busy and is fairly nice. It often has more smoke than its sister casino, Harrah's, just across the street. You can get there using the underground tunnel. Overall, I would rate Harvey's below Harrah's but it is still pretty good. Harvey's does have a large, well run race and sports book while Harrah's has only a small kiosk/annex type sports betting station. There are a lot of good video poker machines there with good odds, if you know how to pay. The best ones are the Bonus Poker machines. The room rate is cheaper than the Harrah's. So if you are on a budget, it is a consideration.
My wife and I have stayed at Harvey's for many years. We even have our favorite room and stay in it whenever we make our annual trip to Lake Tahoe. Regretfully, I have to say that we are considering other lodging options for our next trip. The hotel is seriously showing its age. The furnishings are getting worn and chipped. There hasn't been an remodeling in many years. I understand that there has been a problem with lack of snow and Caesar's bankruptcy. Still, I have to look for the best bang for my buck. I question if I am getting it at Harvey's. I really hate to feel this way but the truth must prevail. Harvey's is still good but I recommend that you look into other options and decide on price. I once did not take that into consideration but I fell compelled to do so in the future.
We enjoyed gambling at this casino. They had a lot of the games we like to play and the staff was very friendly. We ensured we had the players card to earn comps
Pros" room to move around and not too smokey and didn't see children on gaming floor. My favorite over Harrah's across the street - seemed cleaner and no kids on the gaming floor.
This casino is a low key. It is less crowded that others around the area. The casino is out dated. The staff is adequate. Bartenders are friendly and keep the drinks a coming.
There is a drugger on the loose there and they do not care. All they care about is beating on patrons because their security is garbage and for some reason enjoys legally assaulting people. BEWARE!!!!
I found the casino to be quite attractive. If you like video keno, this is your place in Tahoe. People are very friendly. It was a nice visit.
It's a bit of a olden times place but one can enjoy a lot if you are a good gambler. The staff is friendly as well. It's well connected to the other Hotel casino - Harrah's. The service at the tables it moderate. If you plan a long weekend stay in the casino, please be sure to book well in advance as it gets sold out SOON!
It is very smoky, close quarters and loud! It has a lot of machines and nice restaurants. The outdoor concert venue is fantastic. The Improv comedy theatre is a very nice venue also. We didn't like the main act at the Improv this trip. The two opening acts were OK.
If your a gambler and like the outdoors... This is the place. Lots of slot action, table games, electronic and real roulette as well as craps. Dealers were all fun and seemed like they didn't mind their jobs. Drinks were flowing ok as never seems quick enough. Good mix of local and tourist. Good luck and have fun!
Sure the place is a bit dated but that doesn't take away from the great service and classic atmosphere. For me personally I enjoyed the vintage feel and the classic setup. I really enjoyed the Poker room - was not the most up to date room but it still have actions, nice dealers and money to be had. Free booze while you play, nice jackpot hands (4 of a kind - 9s or better and up) and daily tourneys. The roulette, which I rarely play was a blast, older dealers but the action was there and so was the lucky spins. The smoke was your typical for a hotel, just step outside for a moment and you can tell. Plus the tunnel over to Harrahs ( no poker room ) is a nice touch. But get outside and walk it, you will feel better in the morning
typical smokey casino, confusing signage, hard to navigate. its old with low ceilings - the poker staff was amazing ! great view from restaurant on 19t floor,
some of the tables get pretty full during the prime night hours. Most dealers are fun, some are ornery
The facilities are in need of updating. The Mexican restaurant in the basement is great. Drinks are cold and good. The casino reminds me of a casino in downtown Las Vegas, including cheap tables, which is a plus.
the rooms were nice but the hotel was very crowded with families and social events (weddings, parties and family get-togethers.
