This is my second stay at the GSR. The room I had had two beds, a microwave, coffee maker and mini-fridge with a small counter space to prepare your items as well as storage cupboards if you are going to make an extended stay and want pantry space. I have stayed in hotels where every elevator is packed and stops on every floor. I liked that the elevators had three banks with each bank only stop at certain floors. This allowed everyone to enjoy shorter wait times. The beds were comfortable. The staff very friendly and accommodating. We even enjoyed the beautiful bathroom that was completely tiled with a huge walk in shower (no tub).

This casino was a breath of fresh air after visiting the dark and claustrophobic El Dorado downtown. I love the décor and how light and bright everything is. The casino floor is not very large, the only drawback, and about 30% is non-smoking. They also put a beautiful large bar in the non-smoking area, which no one was at but one other couple. They have lots of nice restaurants to chose from, a Cantina, café and buffet. Other restaurants looked really nice, but they only open for dinner. Fun casino to visit and very nice bartenders and valet. We ate at the café, and our waitress was so nice, and the food was good too. I will definitely go back here on our next visit to Reno.

Entry is a half mile walk through the huge parking lot, not good. This places has changed hands and names a couple of times with each effort lacking. Not recommended even for a look-see

We dined at the Trim Restaurant. The food was DELICIOUS!!! Our waitress, Danny was such a pleasant young lady. She was attentive to our every need and ensured our food was delivered efficiently! If you are searching for superb chinese food, I highly recommend this restaurant!

Stayed 4 nights at the GSR and had a very good time. Rooms are big and comfortable. Location is excellent as it is close to Reno airport (have shuttle service), right off freeway 395, and 3 miles to downtown (if you want a more serene surrounding). Skiing at Mt. Rose is only 30 mins away. It has all you need, pool, arcade (including laser tag), go karts, bowling, movies, restaurants, bungee, golf range, and casino. Even the hottest night club, Lex, is located there. Only thing missing for us during the stay was a "Vegas" style show with music, magic and dancing (maybe wrong weekend?). Prices are very reasonable so you get great value.

The GSR is the closest you can get to vegas, in Reno. The entire resort is kept immaculate. The casino has a non-smoking section...which is a breathe of fresh air. (Sorry I had to)I started gambling here 6 months ago, and the comp program is the best I have come across. I was diamond at Harrah's, I'm gold at MGM, and it feels like Legacy doesn't even have one. I got a casino host, Darrel Williams, who is the MAN! I will save you the details, but let's just say his ability to pull together a last second room, couples massage, and dinner reservations saved me on Valentine's, A little tip if you gamble, get a host, I never really knew about hosts, now that I do I kick myself for never having one all these years.Let me also point out, as a tequila snob, this is one of the few spots in town that comps Patron!! I had been ordering well tequila until the waitress, Andrea, tells me she can bring me patron. She was very attentive, it seemed like my drink never sat empty! The rooms are very elegant and spacious. My only gripe would be that the rooms have very little lighting. Other than that I had a fridge, microwave beautiful decor and a comfortable bed. The restaurant options are plenty, and very good. I usually end up at the cantina, steakhouse, or briscola. All of which are great options. The 24 hour cafe, let me first say I hate these places, but this one one will be surprised, the food quality is the best I've had from a casino cafe. The other dining someone else will have to tackle. In addition to the casino there are many non gaming entertainment options. I have yet to use any of them much, but my niece and nephews who are around 10-15 yo all really enjoyed the GSR. I know there is a movie theatre, bowling alley, go karts and so on. To sum it all up, the GSR is definitely a cut above the other Reno properties. Check it out, I doubt you will be disappointed.

Consistent in cleanliness and value. THey ar working on the lobby area so the parking lot is a puzzel. Use the free valet parking if you are comfortable with that. Otherwise you might be in for a walk up a long ramp. Many option for eathing.all good values and decent quality.

We are Reno locals who have never stayed in a local resort hotel. So glad we picked the Grand Sierra for our first experience! Everything from check-in to check-out was first rate. We spent the day sightseeing...in the resort. Shopped downstairs (great sales in the dress shop), loaded up on candy at the Grand Sweets and Treats store, ate dinner at Johnny Rockets and people watched from the Wet lounge. Pretty cool to be able to spend the entire day inside with lots of things to do. We stayed in one of the "Summit" rooms. HUGE modern room with an excellent view...and quiet. I walked in the room just as a passenger jet silently crossed the window heading for a landing in Reno.It was like a commercial!I can't say enough good things about the GSR. I give it 5 stars.

The Grand Sierra Resort has tried to reinvent itself over the years, but it always seems to just miss the coolness mark. It's more of a place either for large school/sports groups, or a place for older adults who like a quiet casino. Unlike other casinos, there is no live music at any of the bars - you must go to a show for that - and the atmosphere is rather depressing and dowdy. While the rooms, especially those in the Summit Tower, are very nice, they all suffer from a lack of insulation that means noise in the hallways can be heard quite easily in the rooms. In all my visits there, I have always been awakened by kids running and yelling in the halls, and drunk adults staggering around in groups at 3 AM. They need to do a much better job of soundproofing. Amenities are just okay, with basic soap and shampoo that are nothing special. Towels are on the thin side and rather rough, and the sheets are strictly bargain basement. There is NO indoor pool, and in the winter, there is very little to do other than gamble. There used to be a good variety of shops at this resort, but many were replaced by a very empty "wedding center". Seems like a bad choice.I wished we had stayed at Atlantis, even though it was more expensive, because that is a much nicer facility, more in line with a Vegas-quality resort.

While we go quite often to Reno and always stay at the GSR, it's only because they have an RV park. Our gambling is now split all over the town because ever since the GSR sold they have taken the casino to new lows. The games are all redundant, and on our last visit, we were surprised to see the number of machines has gone down! They've replaced vast amounts of space that were dedicated to slots with bars and a HUGE sports book (that during our 3 day visit never had one single person in it ever!). All of that could be overlooked but for the fact that their slots are SOOOO TIGHT! We play elsewhere and can play for hours and break even or even come up a few bucks. Not true at the GSR and that has been the case on every visit. They must be paying for all those remodels w/our losses I suppose. On a good note, the cocktail waitresses this time around were very efficient and quite friendly.the RV park staff is always so pleasant and accommodating! A++ for the staff, just the management needs to read the reviews they always ask for after a trip and make some wise changes.

We have stayed at this hotel several times and it just keeps getting better. It was rated the "Best Hotel in Reno" for 2014" -with good reason. It is always a work in progress as they continue to upgrade the entire property. We won't stay anywhere else.

Grand siera resort was a smaller version of the Gaylord hotels without all the Christmas decorations but with a casino.A Very nice resort and inexpensive, 10-15 minute from airport with a free shulltle bus and free parking. The suite we stayed in was a nice size room, very clean and the bathroom updated, the furniture could have been arranged better to take advantage of the space. The view of the mountains from our suite on the 26th floor was breath taking and extraordinary. Walmart was about 3 blks away from the resort. Plenty of things for the young kids and adult kids to do on or near the resort, such as game room, arcade, bowling, golf range and go karts, and skydive zip line,Restaurants in the resort were reasonable and good food. Room service was good and quick.

We have been at the GSR for approximately 3 months. My wife and i have found all of the employes friendly, courteous and willing to go above the norm to help and assist it's guests. Our casino host Larry Rosborough has been exemplary in his scheduling, aiding us,and making sure we do not miss any of the wonderful attractions the casino has scheduled. There is more than enough non gaming activities to keep the whole family more than busy for it's entire stay at the GSR. The restaurants offer a variety of foods to satisfy all members of the family. The quality and service of the restaurants is friendly.courteous, and very knowledgeable. My wife and I would definitely recommend the GSR as the place to stay in Reno.

We had a great stay here. Daytime fun with the kids included free sledding at Mt Rose and $4 movies at the casino. Nighttime fun is bowling that is not cheap at $40 for a family of 4. The arcade is a great place to drop off the kids.
