arbor day farm

My husband and I went here on a weekend getaway, and we weren't sure if we would enjoy it, as the brochure makes it sound very kid-friendly. It is very kid-friendly. It's also great for adults, though. We had a great time walking along the trails and enjoying various activities that are cleverly planned and laid out. My husband built a tall tower of wood-slice blocks, which we invited someone's toddler son to knock down. The little guy gleefully obliged. I played every one of the marimbas and vibraphones, and we both climbed to the top of the big tree house. When we got back from the trail, we went through the indoor display and watched the fun movie. Of course, we each selected a little tree to take home and plant. To top off our visit, we enjoyed thick slices of fresh apple pie and took apple slushes to go.

Spent a week traveling the roads of Nebraska and saw lots of interesting things but this was my personal favorite. We walked the trails, smelled the smells, guessed the names of "who walked here" quizzes, climbed the tree house, played the wooden xylophones, ate some pie and took a wagon ride out to the orchard among other things. This is a great educational opportunity for young and old alike. Diane, our nature interpreter for the wagon ride, was very informative and John, the tractor driver was always there making sure no one slipped on the wet steps. I kept thinking about how much my Girl Scouts would have enjoyed spending a day here!

What a gem in the midst of all the cornfields in Nebraska and Iowa. We went to the sunset and s'mores tour, a nice walk through the treehouse adventure area , then a tram ride to see the entire property with a great guide to tell us what we were seeing. After that we were treated to a roaring bonfire and s'mores. Perfect.

Stayed at the Lodge for a family event(reviewed that separate). Took our 3 kids on the Tree Adventure and were more than impressed. The trails are very well kept and majority are hard surface with fun little critter prints to identify. The tree house and the activity center were great!The nurseries and Apple House were an added bonus!
