One of my favorite lakes for camping and fishing. Easy access, clean camp sites, great fishing. a very relaxing place whether alone or with the family.
I love fishing there and moreover, eating what I caught. The scenery was beautiful. People were friendly and food, delicious! I also like the museum, Buffalo Bill's Rest Ranch, Cody Park, the Railroad Exhibit and the two rivers. What a great place to relax and enjoy.
Lake Maloney is a good lake for bird watching. Pelicans like it there. Other waterfowl can be found in the right season. Dove like the treeline along the north end.The inlet is good for walleye fishing. It's fun to go driving around the lake itself. Beautiful scenery along North Lake Road and around the lake On South Maloney Drive. Take the Canal Road to the west for some fun back country driving on a gravel road. It will take you all the way to Hershey or Sutherland. Whichever you're trying to get to. Canal Road is great for a Sunday cruise.
We love to fish and camp and have been here 3 times already. The camping sites are nice and "lake front." There are no showers available, but they do have a restroom.
We spent the day fishing here. It was an enjoyable time. We found a place in the shade and kept out fishing lines in the water all day. We caught a number of bass and catfish which we released. Most of all we caught carp, carp, carp. Too many to count. It was still fun. We can't way to go back. Be careful of the ticks because I found a few on me when I got home.
This has a great campground that is operated by the state. I enjoyed it...nice people, nice facility and a great view of the lake. Very relaxing.
I enjoyed relaxing in the sun, water was great...Fun time.
Beautiful views over the lake, great walking paths.
Lake Maloney has a muddy bottom, its alright but the Lake by Ogallala is soo much butter and worth the drive, there's an actual beach Maloney really does not have one.
Walley can be it's best asset. Nothing else spectacular about this canal fed lake.
great fishing in may
I simply happened upon Lake Maloney while on a cross-country road trip -- I was looking for a place to camp for the night, and once I saw the name I couldn't imagine going anywhere else... my family name is Maloney. As it turned out, the name was not the only attraction. I set up camp very near the lake, got to see a lovely sunset over the water, and enjoyed the murmur of waves on the shore all night.I was on my way early the next morning, so I'm sure there's more for me to discover next time I can visit.
