Easy to find and big enough for a casual walk around the lake. Big bonus as it close to one of the local dog parks too!!Often find people sailing or kayaking around the lake.
This is a beautiful area in Lincoln, Bike trails, BBQ facilities and walking trails. The lake is absoulutely beautiful. Lots of activities for the whole family.
I love the new walking path that goes all the way around the lake. There are also picnic tables, and plenty of space to enjoy the outdoors. I saw more people fishing, due to the reshaped shoreline.
Holmes Lake Park has an extensive trail system that runs all the way around the medium-sized lake, which is stocked for fishermen - "no wake" boating is permitted. There's an observatory for those who love to stargaze at night, and right across the street is Rickman's Run Dog Park. There is plenty of room for your company picnic; there are baseball diamonds; and you can find a golf course just to the south. A gem of a park!
The Holmes Lake Observatory is a real treat for the whole family. It is run completely by volunteers, but they are very helpful with kids and really work hard to create a fun night. It doesn't take too long. You do need to be mindful that if it is a cloudy night, it might be more challenging to see things. But we try to take the kids at least once a month so they can see the changes in the night sky.We took our relatives from New York Cit and they are still talking about seeing Saturn and its rings. Make sure you know when it gets dark...if it is summer, go later than the 8 PM opening time..8:30-9 is perfect. And in the fall, it gets dark earlier, but it's a great FREE excursion for the whole family. A Lincoln treasure.
fishing, boating, relaxing, pic nicks, family get togethers , walking trail, small beach area, lots you can do.
A run/walk was held at Holmes Lake for a friend. This was a great location. The weather was terrific (good planning!). We enjoyed walking around the lake. Plenty of space on the walking path to walk three abreast. Very pretty location.
About 2 miles nice scenery, mostly flat crushed stone. Good picnic areas OK fishing golf nice park. Connected to city trails so can bike to it or add the loop to a long run
The playgrounds are in need of repair. Most of the swings were broken, but the play gyms seemed to be okay. Some of the openings were a bit large for our little friend. 100% supervision was needed 100% of the time. We had a pleasant picnic by the lake and watched the sailboats. The water at the beach is pretty nasty with duck/geese waste. I would not visit this beach or get into that water.
Great walking/ biking trail all around the lake. there are volleyball nets, picnic areas, play equipment for little ones, grills, and bathrooms. The lake is very dirty-people fish in it, but I don't think you'd eat anything caught here....it's run off from neighborhoods...There's frequently ducks and geese both around. Ample parking. There's a golf course too, but you don't see it from park. Very clean park
Holmes park is a great place to run in. Also a great place for softball and volleyball. The lake is not much, but nice to spend a weekend afternoon.
Stopped here for a romantic stroll on my hubby's birthday. There were more buildings than trees in our view, and the lake isn't big enough to really enjoy looking at. Nice to have in the middle of the city though.
Wonderful walking, bike, running path. Go by yourself, take a friend or a pet.Great area for children to run and play. Picnic tables and softball fields available. No bathroom facilities except porta potties.
The lack is surrounded by a beautiful park setting. We enjoyed walking around the perimeter of the lake. There are plenty of places to have a nice bbq and large grass areas to play some football or baseball. The park is very well maintained.
Nice for a two mile run or long walk, decent fishing, nice playground and lots of open space. Golf course nearby.
