We truly enjoyed our tour and tasting at Cade. The views were breathtaking, the caves were awesome, the stories were very interesting, and they make some of the best wine in the area. Love the screwcaps.
The drive up to the winery was so scenic and thoroughly enjoyable. The ultra modern main buildings set against all those vines on the side of the mountain was very pretty even during a cloudy day like ours. The tasting room was small and intimate and felt like we were sitting in someone's living room. The wines were ok, the exoeperience was well worth it.
Breathtaking views above the cloud line. Relaxing tasting in a well-appointed room with wall-to-ceiling glass and interesting wine and valley facts. No pressure to buy but how can you not? Part of the Plumpjack family so it's free if you are staying at Carneros Inn (also a must do)
We visited hundreds of wineries over the years from Napa, Sonoma, and places in Italy and France. This was by far the best experience we had at any winery. The trip up to Howell Mountain is well worth it, for the views from the top are spectacular. Once you enter the winery, the sites Re stunning. There is a tastefully placed fire pit and some comfy tables and lounge chairs to hang out. There is an infinity type fountain that overlooks the valley below. We were greeted by Rick for a private tour and tasting. He pointed out interesting things about the property including their Gold Status Green award, and educated us about the thoughtful building that went into the construction of the winery including recycled materials. The wine cave and information regarding their barrel toasting was fascinating. At the end of the tour, we sat around a beautiful table and sampled their wine offerings along with a small taste of food to accompany each wine. Everything was so delicious and the wines so impressive, we bought a mixed case. Cade is doing something right from their environmental sensitivity to their exceptional wine making. Our entire group loved this so much! This may be our new favorite place. Highly recommend going but make a reservation for the whole experience. If you catch a beautiful day, I promise you that you'd be tempted to spend the whole day there.
This is an appointment only estate and its well worth it. Pam, our guide, was excellent, personable, knowledgeable and friendly. The estate is stunningly beautiful with awesome views of the valley. We tried a sauvignon blanc, a chardonnay from Plumpjack, their sister estate, and three cabernet sauvignons. All five were great, aided by a small side plate of nibbles as well as the stunning view down the valley. We visited the estate due to reputation and didnt know the wines at all but we will buy some of their wines when we return home.
Cade is one of our favorites, so we were very excited to come visit. But nothing could have prepared us for this visit. We recommend doing the early 10am tour. The morning drive up Howell Mountain is awesome and then just sitting outside by the firepit is heaven. Kevin was really a great representative if the winery and what they stand for. We came during harvest so we were able to see the pump over and press processes. A tour through the cave was pretty cool. Then we finished off the tour with a sit-down tasting of all their wines and some food pairings. You can order and drink a bottle of Cade anywhere, but you'll never be able to truly enjoy it until you visit here. It's a must!
The views from this winery are truly first rate. At an elevation 1,800 ft you can basically see the whole of Napa Valley. In the morning you get to see the fog burn off and its a wonderful view. The building is modern with a lot of stone on the outside. They have one main room where they entertain visitors. It is divided into two sections with couches and comfortable chairs set in front of a huge window overlooking the valley and in the back they have a large table. This is our second visit and we tasted at the couches both time. Very nice place to taste wine. The tasting costs $40 a person. The wines are good (they specialize in Cabs), we especially like the Howell Mountain wines. If you are staying in the valley it will take you about 30 minutes or so go get up to Cade, but it is worth the trip. The drive does have a lot of curves, but it really isn't too bad. We shoot for doing this first thing in the morning. If you make the trip up the mountain I would also try to visit some of the other wineries on the mountain to make the most of your trip.
Enjoyed the tasting with friends. Bought a few bottles if wine. I would visit on a return trip. You will need reservations.
While CADE is visually a breathtaking experience, it left us disappointed. The view is beyond any doubt whatsoever one of those truly stunning, ahhhhh & amazing experiences. Our trip this time was only 4 days, and we come at least once per year - sometimes twice. While we've had CADE wines before this was our first visit. The wines are good, but unfortunately the tour left us feeling like they were just a little full of themselves and more interested in name dropping than in providing us with a great experience. The guide talked nonstop and much too quickly leaving little time for guest interaction with him or each other. During our trip we tasted many wines in the CADE quality range and price point where the staff was far friendlier & accommodating, and truth be told - with wines at least as good & in several cases, better. We just didn't feel the urge to purchase the wines (which is a rarity for us) after the visit. Sorry CADEOn the great side... The facilities are gorgeous with stunning views, infinity pool, seating area, and bathroom facilities. The pours are plentiful and sitting in their outdoor seating area is a treat indeed.
Did the tour and tasting. The facility was an awesome one to tour as they are LEED Gold certified and they tell you all the fun facts about the building. The Cabs were quite delicious - purchased a few to send home. But the views were the best. Up in Howell Mountain they overlook the entire Napa Valley.
We stayed at the Carneros Inn which is a Plumpjack resort. Cade is a Plumpjack owned winery. That spells free tasting...score! We loved the lady who provided our tasting. I wish I could remember her name. She was very knowledgable and down to earth. The wines are top notch! The views from the tasting room are outstanding!
Make reservations in advance. This winery is focused on organic fruit and sustainable practices and is a LEED Gold certified winery. It's off the beaten path, but well worth the drive.
My wife and I had a afternoon tour and tasting here. Views of the entire valley are breath taking. This is a very young winery in the Plumbjack group. Typical group tour of the winery including cave. Wines are ok, except the Cab Estate - problem is they only sell in 2 bottle boxes. Need reservation.
The view from Cade is absolutely amazing. The tasting was so nice, relaxed. I wish it was my living room with the walls of glass and that view. Wine is really good
Went yesterday views are to kill for just the drive up is amazing. ( Be careful driving everybody is gazing out there side windows). Arrived early gave us a glass of chardonnay while waiting. The tasting was just me and my girlfriend. The sommelier did the tasting in there room on a couch relaxed and talking like friends instead of a bar between people. The 2010 Howell Mountain cab is fantastic
