Much of what Americans get as Hinduism is slick marketing and easy-to-digest, non-threatening, self-validating comfort-food presentations. This temple has the heart and soul of real Hinduism really from India. It is unstinting in offering the truly iconic form of Hinduism that really dominates India. It is not all sanitized for idol-averse, religiously-squeamish American complacency. When I say this temple is primitive, I mean that in a very complimentary way. By this I mean primal. It's a place where you can get in touch with feelings and experiences laying dormant inside you. From the outside, it doesn't seem like anything, but once inside, there is a satisfying aura of real religiosity as opposed to the bland "spirituality" of the Bay Area.
