I bough a mirror that was sold to me as an antique. After i got it i took it to an expert and it was fake. I couldn't return it and the owner was very rude. be very careful when shopping there.
AVOID the MEDICI GALLERY in Del Mar!!! you will be avoiding a very disturbing experience should you be foolish enough to transact business with them. the only benefit is that there is no charge for useless documentation but I'm sure they will make an exception.
The Chagall print in front of the "gallery" caught my eye, so I went in to see how much they were asking for it. It had a beautiful frame, priced ad $6,900, at two thirds off! The high pressure salesman tried to bully me into buying it and came "down" on the price to $1,900. When I looked up close, the color seemed washed out and I couldn't believe it was an original print. It looked like a standard art print, not an original signed lithograph, as the salesman claimed. As I walked out the door, the guy was still heckling and trying to bully me into a sale. What a scam! My friend remembered this guy from a similar so-called gallery in San Francisco, near Ghirardelli Square, where the exact same thing happened to me a couple of years back. My friend said it was the same guy with the same line! What a royal scam! Do your homework before you buy from any gallery.
Avoid the Medici Gallery in Del Mar. We purchased what we were told is a "original, signed Chagall lithograph" to later discover that it was nothing more than a poster. Owner refuses to allow return of artwork and give us a refund. Upon further research we discover that the shop has been sued for selling fake art. Buyer beware! They have high pressure sales people and most likely we have not been the only ones who have been ripped off. Purchase your art from a reputable gallery and seek out reviews of the gallery and research the art before you buy -- unfortunately we were newbies in the art world; and we were scammed!! Stay away from this Gallery.
