All I have to ask my grandchildren is, "Shall we go to the wetlands?", and we are off for an afternoon adventure. The self-guided walks are well maintained, the signage is clear, and the lookout areas are what makes this a special place. Because of the well groomed paths,I can walk safely with the kids as well as with my 98 year old dad. There are benches placed along the pathways, and I've told my family that I want them to dedicate one for me when I die.
The well-maintained path around the lagoon is surprisingly entertaining. Each season has it's specialty - flying fish, colorful birds, lizards, crawling crabs…rabbits. The path is marked by benches to encourage a moment's reflection on the tides while markers and signs teach about the sanctuary.Inside the eco-building are seminars and exhibits with knowledgable staff. Bring lunch and eat on the deck with the lagoon/ocean view….and the bathrooms are always clean. This is a nice place for an event , a dog walk or to clear your mind.
This is a fantastic place for people of all interests. It's a great place for a walk or a run, surrounded by really beautiful scenery. Lots of sea birds.
Start at the Nature Center and learn about the L ago on and how it came to be. Lots of fowl, some fish on occasion, and some 4 legged creatures as well. It is hardto believe it is such a tranquil spot in a metro area. Take your time and enjoy each bend in the path.
Great Running Paths! Nice to walk dogs ... check out wildlife ... off the beaten path and very peaceful!
Walk the dogs there often. Fish jumping, birds flying about, or walk around the corner and spot an egret or kingfisher perched waiting to catch dinner. The fresh ocean air is relaxing.
Begin at the "green" Nature Center for views of the lagoon and interesting exhibits of the area history and animals. It's a fun stop for all ages with an easy 1/2 mile walk to view the ever-changing environment as the tides come and go. Signs have gr8 info along the way. There are guided walks every Saturday at 10 am and fun, family activities with arts, crafts & games monthly (see website for schedule). The building is a gr8 example of solar energy use and water recycling and it's an easy, fun & relaxing stop for visitors and locals alike. Every visit is different due to tides and seasons. Bring hats & sunscreen, especially in summer.
