Folks, all I can tell you is that if you love wine (and I do) then this is a must stop. Why? The folks who own and personally manage every detail of this little bastion of fine vino will provide you fine wine and a memorable experience. I warn it is by appointment only so call a few days to a week ahead and they will provide you the promised memorable experience. Located in the little hamlet of Fairplay in southern El Dorado county which borders the Amador wine region as well. Find a local B&B, rental, or stay in a hotel in Sutter Creek and start a great wine weekend or get away.

My husband and I first visited Cedarville Winery in November 2013 upon receiving a recommendation from another winery in Placerville. As a visit to this winery must be by appointment only, we called and arranged a tasting the next morning. Jon, the winemaker and one of the owners, took much time with us and we felt immediately at home. The wines, Viognier, Grenache, Zinfandel, Syrah, Petit Sirah, Cabernet Sauvigon and its flagship (Turnabout's Fair Play) were wonderful and reasonably priced in relation to quality (meaning $22 to $39 a bottle). We purchased more than I anticipated, and shipping was more than reasonable.We returned to Fairplay in March 2014, and of course, Cedarville was one of our stops. Again, the visit (this time we saw Jon and his wife, Susan) reflected the owners' passion and the new (and old) releases were superb. If you come and are there when Turnabout's Fair Play is available, I suggest you buy right then, as this particular wine sells quickly. Wine tasting is free, and again, visits are by appointment only. We will be back!
