Stopped in to buy check on a pick up ... Didn't have one, but did a couple of tastes, ended up buying a case of very nice wines. Our server/pourer, Keri, was very nice, courteous, and helpful.

Great tasting experience in the depths of their underground cave! Cheerful staff and great selection of ports.

Spent a day wine tasting with friends. TooGood is our favorite by far. (Do not visit Miraflores, rude, rude rude) We purchased a pony keg of port and can't wait to share with our friends back home!

We always enjoy a visit to the wine caves at Toogood Winery. Mercy conducted our wine tasting and was very knowledgeable about the wines she served. We are port club members and picked up our case of the "futures" which we had tried a few months ago. We also liked the barrel tastings--always a special treat.

Liked everything, especially the wine. People are friendly and the price was right on the wine. Another successful visit.

Went here last weekend after having breakfast in Plymouth. We've been here before but a lot has changed in 5 years. Gone is the tent that was out front of the cave. There's an introductory welcome that meets you before you venture into the cave. That cave holds some of the best wines of the region. Our terrific expert was JoJo. What a blast she is. Knowledgeable, friendly with a great sense of humor. So, we managed to get through the flight of great reds they have and then were treated to a couple of futures. OMG... they have a 14 year old port that will be released in November that rocks! Can't wait to go back.

This is a wonderful winery with delicious wines at reasonable prices. Walk past the waterfall and into the cave for a fun afternoon. They even have special weekends where they serve great food. We've been going there for years and always have a good time.

Toogood has wine caves dug out of the hill on which the winery stands. They have the caves and a gift shop set up to be enjoyable and entertaining for customers. I'd say their wine is good, not great, but that is highly a matter of opinion. If you are wine tasting in Fairplay, this winery is definitely worth a stop.

Beautiful countryside surrounds this estate. What makes it unique is that the tasting room is tunneled into the mountain! The tasting counter is thus in a man-made cave, with wine barrels lining the way in,very interesting. For $6 a person you get to taste a huge selection of wines and ports, including 3 barrel tastes and keep you tasting glass as a souvenir. The wine bottles have very unique labels and names and found some of their reds very good. The ports on the other hand were fantastic and 1 of my friends joined the port club! Our server was very helpful and informative.Really enjoyed ourselves and have encouraged some other wine lovers to go there.

We have been going to Toogood winery for the past 6 years and have been buying futures regularly, but this last experience has ended that. We went to the winery on a Tuesday to pick up two cases of futures. When we arrived there were 4 other persons tasting and we were not greeted by either of the two servers (a man and a girl). After a bit I announced, "we are here to pick up our futures". Only then did the man acknowledge us. The girl ignored us the entire time - even when the man went to find our futures and there was nobody else to pour our tastes. She would either be working on the computer or just moving items around trying to look busy. Twice, I ended up pouring my own tastes. When the man returned with my two cases of futures, I was advised that they had sold all of the 11 year Tawny Port and would substitute, the 10.5 year tawny port and that it was "comparable". It is not! While in the past I have liked their wines, the total lack of service and the futures issue have ended my desire to go to Toogood. Update 4-4-14. When we picked up our futures of the 2011 Tempranillo the server said told me it was a “little young” and would be ready to drink in 2-3 months. This surprised me as when I tasted it a year ago, it tasted very smooth and had a wonderful nose. Well, I couldn’t wait any longer and opened a bottle today. The wine is not young, it is just terrible! The wine has absolutely no nose or taste, unless you count the strong tannins and Malic acid. If this is “young” then maybe in 5-6 years, this wine may become good enough to use as salad dressing. I had asked to have a taste of the wine and he said they did not have any open. I now know he was afraid that I would not take the wine with me and they would have to pay the hazardous waste fee to dispose of it. Save yourself a drive, I have found the wines at Boeger, Jodar and Crystal basin better and all three have friendly, outstanding service.

This was our second visit to this winery. The first was a 'look around' and futures order. They have excellent wines. Staff is courteous and helpful.

Excellent wines, great and knowledgeable staff and gorgeous labels on many of the wines. I wish they were closer! Fortunately our 4 bottles made the trip back to Virginia in our suitcases safely. Definitely plan to visit again the next time we are out that way.

It isn't often that you attend an event that meets and exceeds your highest expectation. This weekend, my wife and I, and friends attended The Herbert Vineyard Field Trip that included a interactive walking tour of a vineyard hosted by winemaker Marco Cappelli. Mr. Cappelli explained the concept of "terroir" as we walk along rows of vines sampling fruit along the way. This master winemaker answered question after question giving the assembled group a greater understanding of the art of wine making. The event then moved back to the Toogood Estate Winery where tables were set-up in a shade area. We then proceed to taste no fewer than, to my count, 23 different wines over a three hour period that was only interrupted by a finely prepared Rib Eye Steak BBQ.I personally do not have the best developed pallet, however, in my mind the wines were good to excellent with nothing that I would consider undrinkable. As a Port lover, I was delighted with the wide offering of unique Port Wines produced by the Toogood Estate Winery.

Escape the summer heat and drop by Toogood winery. Wine tasting is offered in a cave. Great ambiance! All Toogood wines are fairly priced. Besides sampling the traditional reds and whites, they offer samples of port. Finally, taste a sample straight from a barrell of a future wine waiting to be released.Wonderful views of the valley. And if you are lucky like I was, you just might meet Mr. Toogood.
