I was very much looking forward to my once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to drive a Lamborghini but, unfortunately, I barely enjoyed the $400 I spent to drive a Gallardo for seven laps. The 45-minute briefing wasn't bad, and I enjoyed watching the other cars and taking pictures, but as far as my actual ride, the instructor spent the entire time yelling at me to "maximize the car's performance," so much so that I barely enjoyed it. At the end they show you an in-car video, and when I watched mine I saw that I barely cracked a smile as I strained to keep track of the instructor's incessant prompts to break, accelerate, use more track, etc.Honestly, I would've preferred to drive the car around the parking lot for 1/2 hour.Also, the instructors' direct and unavoidable request for tips upon exiting the car is absurd. We all just paid hundreds of dollars for the experience.

I gave my husband the Lamborghini driving experience and my two kids the driving in a corvette experience as gifts at Christmas. The total cost was $547.00. We went yesterday and they loved it. The speed they went around the track drifting was very exciting for them. Hero, the instructor did a great job. You could tell he knew what he was doing and I felt that my children were in good hands. Karl was my husbands driving instructor for his driving experience and he thought Karl was very good at his job as an instructor and he made his driving experience very positive. The Discovery laps in the Porsche Cayenne was very fun, I paid the extra $20 and went with my husband and it was very exciting to see how fast a SUV can go and handle. The instruction in the Discovery laps was very good as well. It was neat to hear and see first hand what the drivers would be expecting on their driving experience.Having said that, the up selling at this place is what killed it for us and is why we gave it only 3 stars. From the moment we walked in the up selling began at check in. The staff was trying to up sell the packages we had already purchased and we found it really annoying. At the briefing the people who were driving had to sit through, there was a portion there as well about up grading the package we had already bought. In the briefing they also mentioned tipping the driver instructor a couple of times and they said that the instructors worked for tips and that's how they got paid. If this is the case we felt they need to put this on their web site instead of putting pressure on you at your actual driving experience or perhaps paying their instructors instead of putting the pressure on their customers to pay them. Its too bad because instead of walking away saying how amazing the whole experience was, we walked away talking about how annoying the up selling was.

Lame. I originally signed up for Nissan GTR and the Porsche twin turbo because those were the cars I wanted to drive. Two days before I was to drive I was contacted and told the Nissan had mechanical problems. I understand that and chose a Lamborghini for a free upgrade. Race day I get to the track and am told the Porsche is now broken down too. I was offered the most expensive Ferrari as a compensation, fine but I did not come to drive a Ferrari. I go to the pit to get into that Ferrari and it has to be repaired. So I went out in some other Ferrari. It sucked, I paid to drive two cars I was not interested in. I was given 2 laps after complaining but they never posted my review because they filter all reviews posted on their website. What they should understand is that more concern needs to be placed on giving the customer what they paid for, not just drive any car we have working that day. I don't know if that means they should have back up cars or better maintain their vehicles. At least the instructors were very good and push you to drive fast!

This is a great opportunity to drive a car at the limits of its performance rather than cruising on the freeway. Since you complete a lap in about one minute and ten seconds you are spending about $50 a minute to drive 5 laps but it is a very unique and fun experience; kind of like standing in an hour long line to ride a 90 second long roller coaster although this is a very good ride. The track is a road course located in the parking lot of the California Speedway and you are welcomed in a hospitality tent. Check in is friendly and efficient if you have pre-purchased your experience but the upsell and tip requests start almost immediately and continue which ultimately becomes annoying. With that said, I am glad I took advantage of purchasing 2 additional laps (for a total of 7 compared to 5) because it does take 3 to 4 laps to get familiar with the car and the track itself. I drove 2 cars (Audi R8 and Ferrari F430) and the second drive was better since I knew the track at that point in time with my lap times improving.The hospitality tent contains a briefing area, a merchandise shop, and a video viewing station where you can view (and of course purchase a copy of) your drive that is automatically recorded for what appears to be some safety and insurance reasons as well. There are several seating areas with magazines and a grill is set up outside of the tent where you can purchase food. The bathrooms consist of port-a-potties. The track is very visible from the tent so any guests you bring along can easily see you fly around the course and hear the tires squeal as you break and turn the steering wheel left going into turn 1. Those guests are also subjected to several upsell opportunities as a 2 lap ride-a-longs with a professional driver is announced about every 10 minutes. After a briefing you are taken on some very helpful reconnaissance laps to start to put what you learned in the briefing into practice and then you wait your turn for your drive by hanging out in the tent. The whole experience from arrival to finishing your last ride is about 2 to 3 hours.The drive itself is obviously what you are here for and it does not disappoint. The instructors are very friendly and helpful especially if you give them background on your driving experience. You can drive the cars in automatic or manual paddle shift mode and the instructors coach you around the track giving feedback about when to shift, when to break, where to look, and where to accelerate. The track itself has a little bit of everything ranging from a chicane, a double apex turn, a turn with a tightening radius and a nice straight. Bring a friend and drive the same car to see who has the fastest lap time. If you want to try something different and have the money, go out and enjoy.

This is a 'must do' experience for anyone who loves super cars!!!I drove the Ferrari F430 and Audi R8, both were awesome cars. I enjoyed the Ferrari the most. They have their own private circuit, doing 7 laps is worth it as it takes a few laps to get comfortable with the car and circuit. There are different instructors for each car but Philip was one of my instructors who was clear, professional and helped get the most out of the experience, he was great.My wife at the last minute decided to drive the Porsche 997 Turbo S. It was great they could offer last minute drives. She loved the car, which is also popular among the instructors. Unfortunately her instructor passed a disrespectful comment which put her off the remaining laps and so wasn't worth the money. Mentioned it afterwards to a manager which didn't go far. So it can depend on your instructor.I still smile when I think about the experience and it really is the best way to appreciate these cars rather than driving them around on the street. Don't hesitate to visit Exotics Racing!!!

I don't write reviews - not saying that is good, I just don't. My first ER experience. Drove the 997 Turbo and the 430 F1 at Fontana. Truly a wrap around experience that should work for virtually anyone with a driver's license who is curious to see how the big guns perform or has an itch to go fast in controlled circumstances. Nervous? no problem. User friendly. I wasn't nervous (surprised me), so it was pedal-to-the-metal fun. (The Porsche has to be experienced - a fire-breathing beast that can't be described - but I did like the Ferrari best and was faster in it.) Instructor on board to keep you from killing yourself and help you understand how to navigate the course fast. Do the video - worth it.Gotta do it again real soon. 1 week later and I still recall every inch!
