Lived around here forever & loved going to NASCAR ! It's not in the nicest part of town but it's cool , a must see if you're into nascar and fast cars ! The speedway is built great along with the roads and there is food stalls and concerts here to.
Caught the train from downtown LA-thought it was only a suburb of LA-WRONG! Took 1 1/2hrs to get there then I found out trains are limited to get back! Caught taxi 5 miles to get there THEN couldn't get a taxi back and had to walk as 100,000 people who attended then drove out and all roads closed. Stadium itself was good but 38oC day and nil cover from sun-I cooked! Been there once-that's enough'
Wow! Our adult kids got this for my husband's 60th birthday. It was 5 minutes (which we upgraded to 8 minutes) of the Mario Andretti Experience. 8 minutes behind the wheel of an Indy 500 Car. This place was amazing. No, I didn't do the driving, but I wanted to share with any of you that might be considering this attraction.First of all, these people are professional. They have a 1 hour class to give you the safety briefing and a video to watch. My daughter and I were allowed to come in and listen. It was a bit confusing for me with all the instructions, but I wasn't driving so I didn't ask any questions. My husband did. This was a huge surprise for him and he had zero time to prepare for this experience. I think it would be best if you let the driver know that he/she will be driving! All went well, but I think that was largely due to the team that surrounds you. They never let you do anything foolish. Ever. They keep total control until you are in the car and even then, you are in constant voice contact with your guide for the 8 minutes. You are fully versed on what will happen and what will NOT happen. As a spectator, it was really nice! We were welcome to share every step of the procedure, from the class to the helmet and earphones. Then we were able to go up in a viewing area so we could see everything. My daughter wanted to do a "ride along" which is with a professional driver, but we didn't make a reservation ahead of time and they were already booked. That would be the only thing to do - book ahead of time for a ride-along!All in all, it was a great day. Husband had a blast. We bought the video which is fantastic. We had the opportunity to buy a picture package, a t-shirt etc. He went over 150 mph so he bought THAT special t-shirt. He will never forget this birthday gift, that's for sure! Oh and one more VERY important detail: The package that you buy is for 5 minutes. We had been advised by our son that his friend said that wasn't long enough. So I upgraded it to 8 minutes and he liked it just fine, but he sure wants to do it again!
Great layout, nice seats, and expensive food, but nothing unexpected. Beware that the crowd can be a little testy at times, especially on hot days when some people may have drunk something not on the menu. Certainly a must visit, but not especially kid friendly.
This the 6th year in a row that we have had the pleasure of attending the Nascar events in March at Auto Club Speedway. It just gets better every year! The venue is very fan friendly and the staff do everything in their power to ensure that the fans are taken care of. Everyone is extremely nice and friendly. Smiling faces and helpful employees abound. The garage tours are a huge bonus that you can't get at some other venues and I would definitely recommend signing up for one.Oh, and the races are fun too;-)I recommend this venue without any reservations. This is a must do for all Nascar fans!
Great venue and a great race, but the lack of police directing traffic before the race and the time it takes to leave the race can make this a bad experience. Be sure you have food and drink and have visited the bathroom before you try to leave the track. On this track leaving early isn't an option. The finishes are too exciting and unpredictable.
What an awesome experience here at the Auto Club Speedway-also known as California Speedway!! Where do you start?? pit passes?? Garage pass? fanzone?Well the racing was awesome and our seats were great. You can see from practically all areas of the grandstands, as i have sat in quite a few of them. 20+ races here and it doesnt get old. The pit stops are fun to watch as the drivers slow down from almost 200 miles per hour to a stop, to change tires and add gas in 13 seconds. Accidents and crashes are fun to see too! Many fans come just for that excitement.Tickets range from about $30 to around $100. But i have seen promotions and specials for tickets at $10 and $20.You should have a favorite driver or 2 to watch to enjoy the race here. maybe Dale Earnhart jr, tony stewart, danica patrick, jeff gordon, kevin harvick, matt kenseth or kyle bush! they are some of the favorites. the pit pass allows you to walk into the pit area and view the cars and see and meet some of the crews and drivers. this is the best way to see or meet your favorite driver. the garage pass is a short tour inside where the cars are worked on and closer to the whole crew, media and drivers. got some awesome pictures in here i will have on this review. the fanzone is behind the grandstands where there are merchandise trailers, shows, food, entertainment, autograph sessions n so much more all day longThe Auto Club Speedway President Zucker is a hands on leader of the track and even takes calls, answers emails and greets the fans in the track area on race weekends. The is so much to do here before, during and after races. Shopping, restaurants, interactive activities and things for the kids too. Bring your camera, sun tan lotion and a sharpie for autographs. theres also camping in the infield area of the track. was a track walk a few times where you can be on the track before the race and see what the drivers see! there is an awesome hauler parade every thursday before race weekend where you can see dozens of the large race vehicle transport trucks in the streets!! gotta be seen!!I the flyovers just before the races are awesome too! i hope they bring back nascar racing 2 times a year like it used to be. there is an awesome view of the mountains from the grandstands. an bring food and drinks into the track. no glasstheres a large parking area surrounding the track. entry and exit from here is easier than you might think. some times we have been out of the track after a race in 30 minutes. good for 100,000 people there. there is a tram too that goes to the parking areas to bring you closer to the entrances and back to parking area after the race. they also have golf carts and volunteer drivers and for those with mobility issues. the employees, staff and volunteers here are very friendly and accommodating.the track is located not far from ontario airport and many hotels. its about one hour east of los angeles and LAX airport. the ontario laquinta has been good to us for years. the massive ontario mills mall is close by too. its all located near multiple freeways including the 15, 210 and 10. Theres a metrolink train service behind the track for a cheap rate round trip. think its $19.they also race izod, indy, sports cars, motorcycles and a drag race. they also have car shows, driving schools and events like one that lets you drive on the track!! who wouldnt like that.theres always numerous celebrities, sports stars and music artists around the garage and pits areas. seen some good bands here the last few years too. been to about 15 other tracks and this one by far is the best. hope you like the race, track and drivers pictures i posted. we cant wait to go back in march 2014.
I am not a fan of the bigger tracks but we had Hot passes so it made the experience worth it.The racing was fine but it is so spread out on a big track I do not think you can enjoy it nearly as much. The infield had plenty going on to make it exciting. The parking was fine but a bit of a pain because we parked in a remote lot and took the shuttle in.If I had grandstand seats I am sure I would enjoy it much more at home.
Well laid out and easy to access, Auto Club Speedway is a fantastic oval track to visit. I've had the pleasure of seeing a few NASCAR races there, as well as an IndyCar race, and have had a great time at each event. Auto Club Speedway does have a bit of a reputation for being a cookie-cutter racetrack (which it is), but the racing is wonderful, and there's plenty of action to be seen no matter where you're seated. The prices are a bit high (for a NASCAR race, expect to pay at least $50 for decent seats), but within the expected range. On-track food is also a little pricey, but again, not out of the ordinary for any sporting event. Overall, if you're a motorsport fan and fancy some good oval track racing, Auto Club Speedway is worth a yearly visit.
Really enjoyed the facility and the staff put on a great event. The race was a fantastic one to watch. Would definitely like to go back!
I recently attended a Mario Andretti school at this track. What a wonderful school. That's some of the best fun that I have ever had. They have different schools on different dates. The Indy cars make this one of their stops as well as NASCAR. This is by far one of the most beautiful race tracks that I have seen from the east coast to the west coast. The D shaped oval is 2 miles long. There is not a bad seat in the house. It's easy to get to this race track. Ontario, Calif. has a jet port, and Ontario is a very nice city to stay in, while visiting the track, that's only 10-15 mins. away. You will find good food and new clean motels in Ontario.
The track is well laid out with the views from the grandstands excellent from all seats. The track is easy to get in and out off and there are lots of hotels in the area. I watched an IndyCar race and enjoyed the event.
I've never been to a NASCAR race here, but watching it on TV makes me intrigued at running my own car there. Great track, should be booked solid if its not already (even weekdays).
The layout is great, because it is only 2 miles and you get to see most of the track from just about anywhere that you choose to sit. This makes it nice, because if you can't afford the high dollar tickets, it's nice to know that you'll still have a fantastic time.
I have been coming to Auto Club Speedway since 2004 and have been coming here for the NASCAR weekend since. Atmosphere is great, fans are like your family if their wearing the same driver number or car as you are. Pit passes are great to get for the race because I got to meet a lot of drivers race day. Our seats let me see what's going on all over the track and is looking at pit entrance. Will be back for the IndyCar weekend in October!
