Staff very friendly and helpful. Golf course in good condition. Play is quick and fees reasonable. Good course for both beginners and more advanced. Tees well-placed.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Only $49 for twilight (1 PM) rates and cart on one of the most beautiful, scenic challenging courses around. Problems? condition was poor due to drought...lots of brown spots... don't let it throw you... this course is worth 2x this rate, even in its current state. Undulating greens, incredible views. altitude changes... this one's got it all. Frankly, my favorite hole was #8, hitting into the hollow going into the mountain. Loved the twisty par 5's, multi tiered greens, multi levels of holes up and down the property. Would play here ALL the time if I lived locally. Not easy to score well... Have to know the course and where the pin's located. Great for novice and expert golfers alike. Some holes are "shot maker" holes, where one needs to play with thought, not merely a long club.... Again, this one's got it all... go play. Why only 4 stars? simply due to the drought conditions... cannot give it 5... sorry. I understand a drought's in place, but other courses seem to avoid the brown spots... have to figure out how to resolve it.

Earlier this Spring I golfed here with a buddy, while they were aerating the greens. Not only did we get a great discount, they threw in coupons for another round of golf, free. The Pro Shop guys and the snack bar were pleasant and relaxed. Others have noted that the course is not for beginners and I concur. But I am not too good, and still managed to have a very fun round of golf. Each hole has notable attributes, mostly in the bunker placements. Most holes are cleverly guarded by traps and some these are quite deep. This was a 1.5 hr drive for us, and I'll do it again to play there. It seemed to live up to the advertising and hype I'd read about it.My only complaints: The sign for the snack bar ordering, at the 9th tee, should have the area code added. Us out-of-towners could not call in our order. But the other complaint is a much bigger item for me: They are constructing houses around the golf course perimeter, some quite close. I hate this. It changes a a "5-star" course, to a lower rating from me. In fact, better signage is also needed for locating, I think it was, the 11th tee -- the one that requires a 'drive through the neighborhood' to locate. Taking golf carts out onto streets makes me too nervous. It's a shame that all of that area is getting so built up. Be that as it is, and surely it will get worse, I still recommend the course--highly. But not if you're a beginner.

This course is not for beginners! Very difficult and you will not enjoy it and you will ruin other players experiences. Bring extra balls and have at it. A beautiful setting in the hills and oak trees.

This is one of the nicest courses around here. The staff is friendly, the course is well-kept and challenging from every tee box, and the greens are 'interesting' but playable. With all the trees, there's lots of shade on very hot days. The biggest problem we have had was with the snack bar at the turn. The young lady working there apparently didn't know or care that getting back to the next tee quickly was important, and she just puttered around the grill, taking her time getting our food out (2 hot dogs, chips, and sodas, for pete's sake). I do recommend buying the yardage book, though, as there is no map or fairway view on the scorecard; it's easy to make a wrong turn at a few places or not know where the green is on a couple of holes.

Cost is moderate compared to golf courses of similar stature. The greens are tiered and fast, but smooth and fast. The six different tee boxes makes it fair for those of very different abilities.

Beautiful setting and challenging layout from the appropriate tee boxes. Johnny Miller signature design architecture to the layout. Worth trying if you are a true golf enthusiast.

Eagle Ridge Golf Club is more than golf -- it is a one of south county's premier facilities. From business meetings to formal gatherings, the lodge has a gorgeous view of the Johnny Miller-design golf course. Golf enthusiasts enjoy the course which gives enough of a challenge -- the grounds and surrounding hillsides are total eye candy. Gilroy enjoys a temperate climate that gives outdoor sports a lot of play time. Groups also find Eagle Ridge Golf Course an excellent venue for golf tournaments to raise money for non-profits. Eagle Ridge is staffed by professionals who can assist in planing a successful tournament. For travelers spending a weekend in the area, Eagle Ridge is within minutes of Gilroy hotel properties, so a round of golf is easily arranged. After a day on the course, the Club House has a bar where you can sit and enjoy a leisurely drink and visit with friends.

If you're visiting the Bay Area and are willing to drive 30 min. south of San Jose for a round of golf, Eagle Ridge is worth the trip. The course is quite challenging from the back tees and has some very memorable holes. The only hole I don't like is #11 which has houses on both sides. I prefer the back 9 as most of the holes don't have houses.Suggest you look for deals on golfnow.com, otherwise fees can be in the $90 range. It has a great driving range, practice putting green, and clubhouse. Let me know if you par #8, #9 , or #12. Good luck!

Nothing special...different from the typical valley courses.

This course is ok but its a housing community with a golf course. If you seek enjoyment in playing this is not the place because you will be worrying too much about the houses that is too close to the course. Too much buck for the Bang.
