Lots of laughs! Good to see Jay Leno live! For dinner I had the Rosemary Chicken,$17 and my wife had the grilled tilapia $18. Both were really good! Wine and mixed drinks $10 ea. Parking $5. Tickets $30ea. Great experience for the price of $110 per couple.Tips*Get there at least 30 min after doors open for middle seating.*If you sit in the front you have a good chance to be heckled by the comedians.*Parking in back of club $5.Wish I could be there to see Rodman! He is sooooo funny.
Two of us went to the magic and comedy club Sunday night in February because Jay Leno appears on Sunday's. Two comedians did their routines before Mr. Leno came on stage. Each of them played for about 20 to 30 minutes each, they were both very good, we laughed a lot. Mr. Leno came on last and was as expected very good. We will go again. There is a Two drink minimum and dinner if you like. I would advise taking the two drinks and later eating in the town, which we did. There are plenty of good hplaces close.
We arrived on foot for a show (street parking's available, though) and got there about an hour before the show started. We chose a table close to, but not directly in front of the stage (we didn't want to get picked out of the crowd by the performers, after all) and all of the tables seemed to provide a good view of the stage. There is a two-item minimum purchase (drink or food) per person and we enjoyed two respectable salads and a couple of glasses of wine. Our server was excellent. There were 10 performers, all of them very funny, and Arsenio Hall was my favorite surprise of the evening. I would go back for sure.
I really enjoyed visiting this place for the first time and am looking forward to going back. They have some amazing acts scheduled and you never know who will just pop up unexpectedly! (And Jay Leno still does his set on Sundays) Things to know before you go: There is parking available on the roof for $5 cash if you get there early enough. There is also metered street parking in the area. If it's a big name, you should get there early to line up before they open the doors. It's a 2 item/person minimum once you get inside. Their menu includes drinks, snacks and entrees. You're going for the show and not the decor. (It looks like they haven't done any remodeling or redecorating since they opened). Be prepared to laugh :)
We went on a night when Jay headlined, which is like an extended version of his Tonight Show monologue... without a team of writers. Ironically enough, just before him one of his previous writers went on and had no act other than to go around the room asking people where they were from and what they did for living, which was hilarious actually. Dinner was decent, but dessert was delicious! We had a big group so I tried the both Brownie sundae and Apple Pie egg roles with ice cream. For dinner I had the Filet, which was just OK. It's a unique experience and worth checking out, but didn't knock my socks off. Try and walk down and check out the sunset before coming. Don't be afraid to be fashionably late for dinner. They keep serving during the act.
Myself and my girlfriend went to see Jay and a few before him perform. We had a great time, many laughs and a great location. The staff were great - always on top of things and kept smiling. We walked home all the way to manhattan beach - just a fabulous night!
We saw 10 stand up comedians in the lounge, I'm not sure if they are different from the main stage. That was sold out so took the lounge offer, $10 cheaper. The talent was all funny and short and sweet stage time. I would definitely recommend this venue. We did not have dinner here but everyone around us did and it looked ok.
Had dinner and enjoyed a great night of comedy. The venue is old and dated and the tables are tiny -- it's a challenge to dine but it's worth it. We went to see Rod Man (2014 winner of Last Comic Standing). He was awesome. Paul Reiser tried out some new material on us as well. The other comedians were hilarious. A good time at a great venue in Hermosa Beach!
Saw Jay Leno at the Comedy and Magic Club on Sunday evening a couple of weeks ago, highly recommended. Two comedians, one at a time, opened the show, mostly asking the audience questions and making funny comments. By far the best part of the evening was Leno. He went for over an hour straight with no break. Brought up his usual twist on a lot of current events in the news. Had a glass of wine and the Vegan Mushroom & Spinach Ravioli which was excellent. Check the schedule as he is not there every week.
We have been attending shows at The Comedy & Magic Club for over 25 years. This is one of the best entertainment venues in the South Bay. Top comics in addition to rising stars make an evening here a fun filled adventure. If visiting the South Bay and like a good laugh, you must visit The Comedy & Magic Club.
We were entertained by about 6 comedians; Two good, one terrible, and the rest OK. I would have been embarrassed to be there with my family or co-workers; parts were a bit too crude.
We loved the show tonight which included Jay Leno who we really miss seeing on TV. The food was very good too as well as the service. The night ran around $200 with dinner and tickets which we thought was very reasonable. That included several drinks. We highly recommend.
Walked over from our hotel to catch Jay's show. Ticket price quite reasonable and service at the club prompt and very friendly. Great little place- -not a bad seat in the house. We didn't eat but food menu appears reasonably priced and interestingly varied. Nice variety of drinks, again reasonably priced. No gouging here. "Two item minimum" permits you to mix and match food and beverage items to meet your minimum, which can be done pretty cost-effectively. Jay's show (he performed for about 45 minutes I'm guessing and was preceded by two of his writers doing 20 minutes each) was really terrific - - we are glad we did this!
Hermosa Beach is very lucky to have this establishment. I have had some great surprises during their 10 for 10 comics including Aresenio Hall and Daniel Tosh. The rib eye is surprisingly amazing. The only issue I have with this place is the obnoxious security. They can really make the experience uncomfortable. Thankfully the comedians make it worth 5 stars.
really good night out on a Friday, had dinner there food was good, entertainment was excellent, sunday nights get booked up really early
