One of the cleanest bays, it is full of history and wildlife. Include the Arcata Marsh and excursions on the Eel River to round the place out. Tours of the bay on the Madaket or with the Bay Keepers are very worth while.
for all sorts of aquatic life. great for walking, hiking, fishing and juste spending time out doors. just don't be here in a tsunami.
was shocked to see green snow ,just kidding , green grass was a sight, coming from a snowy area was a shock for sure. nice temp too , 56 and at home was 27 for a high .
The bay is deep water and provides an abundance of fish and the famous oysters are farmed there. There are seals along the far shore, difficult to see when they are in the water. The marina is very attractive and there are several boat trips and sightseeing venues in season and a number of snack shacks also.
Humboldt Bay Rowing Association has a boat house in Eureka. The best way to view the bay is backwards in an 8 or a 4. They also have singles. There are also kayaks for rent from Adventures Edge and some other places. Contact HBRA at http://www.hbra.org/
Great for fishing, sight seeing, and relaxing. This bay always relaxes me and my family. Lots of good places to visit and eat.
We travelled through on the way south down the coastal road and it's worth a short stop and very scenic
There are many access points. Research in advance. Best to visit early morning or afternoon. Some areas best visited with a companion and before dusk.
So many treasures in this area even when the fog rolls in , wild life, scenery oceans mountains trees animals early morn late after noon
traveling via motorcycle... we were on the road fairly early. Weather was overcast and a little foggy. Just as we were rounding the Bay, a herd of elk was swimming or crossing. There were probably over 20 elk of all sizes. An amazing sight!
Take a walk along the boardwalk of the bay. It is beautiful. Take a ride on the bay in the madaket. It does cost., but a fun trip to be able to ride around the bay and see some wildlife of the bay. The Humboldt Bay is an important resource to Humboldt. Brining in fish ad crab, as well as other stuff.
When you're in the area, find somewhere to stop and admire our beautiful Humboldt Bay. South end, go to King Salmon and walk the peaceful beach. Gather sea shells or watch the boats enter the jetty. Farther north, turn on C street and park by the boardwalk. Stroll north along the waters edge to F Street and wander into Old Town. If the Madaket is sailing, take a bay cruise. After a nice walk, drive north on 2nd and see the amazing Carson Mansion. Over the bridges of the 255 you'll see Humboldt Bay on your left and Arcata Bay on your right! A beautiful couple of hours!
One of my favorite places on the planet. Beautiful waters, and if you have a boat, you can see the egret's rookery trees out on an island. Fresh!
We stopped here to do some birding. What a lovely spot to stroll and enjoy the area and birds. I plan on going back and doing more exploring.
The area is a mix between traditional building and modernised walkway but venturing further along the coast and visiting the nearby island watching the sun go down over the sea, was so nice an experience.
