los vaqueros reservoir

I enjoy fishing and the campsites are great. swimming at the southend of the lake. campsites fill up on weekends. but during the week it is slow. Kids take over on the weekends and can get rowdy, but park rangers take care of things. Bathrooms and showers are cleaned regularly. I love this place.

We have always lives near this reservoir but never visited until yesterday. It is beautiful and extremely well maintained. They are set up for a days worth of family or personal fun in the outdoors. Hiking, fishing, boat!rentals, and a fully set up store to take care of anything missed.

My husband and I discovered this gem of a reservoir right after it opened some years ago. We both are avid fishermen, but my husband was having some mobility issues so many of our normal holes were off-limits to us. Paved parking lots, easy lakeside trails, fishing spots anywhere you can park your chair... There are also electric boats to rent which is really fun because the lake is large enough to get away and find some nice, deep holes where the big fish hang out. The fish are farm-raised trout and salmon, but they are big, healthy, and not at all mushy like some "tame" stock can be. Summer sun can get rather hot out there so come prepared. We fished there dozens of times and never got skunked. One downer, Los Vaqueros has a small admission fee for non-Walnut Creek residents, but it's well worth it.
