Babcock has an excellent 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Block 15 for $35. They also have a very good 2012 Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir for $35. They have some excellent premium Pinot Noir wines including the 2012 Slice of Heaven Pinot Noir for $60. Tasting fee was waived with a purchase of three bottles. Good service. Located in the heart of the Santa Rita Hills vineyards.
We frequent many tasting rooms and vineyards in the area. My husband and I both agree they have the best Pinots. They also have a charming, spacious tasting room. The staff is great as well. If you are in the area looking for some great wines, this is not to be missed.
While you are there Don't forget to ask for your slice of haven. Excellent wines waiting for you in an antique warehouse setting. Go have fun and relax for an hour.
I had not been to Babcock in about two years. It was always quaint, but the tasting room was a small little shed. Charming, but a shed. They now moved into a former warehouse and turned the space into an amazing antique store and very cool wine bar with very friendly and helpful wine pourers. I could have spent the whole afternoon there, enjoying the wine, ambiance and the view. Great job of a turnaround. And the wines were good as well!
Of the several wineries I visited in the region, Babcock stood out for having the best wines as well as the most helpful staff (I'm comparing it to several in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto, Foxen 7200, and Blair Fox). While I still am not convinced that I like Pinot Noir (maybe I'm too much of a rube, or just really like Cab or Zins better), Babcock makes some flavorable Pinots. The tasting room in shabby-chic in a barn, and the pourers seemed to really be into both the wine as well as the wine-makers philosophy. Worth checking out if you are in the area.
Wine tasting; wine tasted was xlnt quality, pricey but worth it; they specialize in pinot noirs and do a great job. As a non-wine snob I don't know all the fancy words and phrases of wine tasting but I know what tastes good to me. I did not have a bad tasting wine out of the 4-5 we tasted l
Threw 60th B'day for my partner and served all Babcock wines, three pinot noirs and a sauv blanc. The guests raved...as did I. Bryan is a true wine artisan and a visit to his tasting room in Lompoc should be on your bucket list! Having been to a few events at the tasting room, I know what I'm talking about. Enjoy!
Wine was all right but nothing exceptional. Tasting room is very large and filled with random knick-knacks. Wouldn't go back.
A good place for some value wines. The higher end wines are nice, but not as good as some of the other wineries in the area for the price. Liked to old tasting room better, although it was nice that they had tables to sit at. Staff is very nice so worth a visit if you want some values and it is on your way...
I don't really know why -- can't put my finger on it -- but this is my favorite tasting room in the area. Really cool "Industrial Chic" vibe inside. Generous pours and some really unusual wines (like the Identity Crisis Syrah, made like a Chardonnay). Wish they had a cracker or two to enjoy with it. That would earn it five stars. Friendly guys behind counter.
Easy to get to off of 246, and a beautiful view of the valley from the ridge. Meghan was the friendliest person we met at any of the wineries, and the wines were terrific.
This is the most friendiest and warmest staff at anyof the 40 + wineries in the area. They know their alchemy and share the details of their production. Bonus points - they have a fairly large solar farm! My heros!
