I have seen about 5 comedy shows here. The seating is a little tight if your in the middle. It's very nice inside and should be used more for other things.
For a theater in a smaller town their productions are entertaining, well crafted with great talent and very professional
We have seen many shows here. We started out going again when they were raising money to restore this beautiful theater. Now they have live entertainment which is superb. Go see a show here and you won't be disappointed.
As a boy over 60 years ago, growing up in this town, I remember the double features for only $.035 at this movie house. The people of Merced can take credit in fully restoring the beautifully decorated insides. The theater's tower with the Merced sign on it is another signature landmark seen from afar. Two years ago, my 50th High School reunion class had a special tour to see all the improvements including an excellent sound system. This theater is now a great place for plays and other public events!
Haven't been there for years, but as a boy, was my favorite place to go. The old style look has always given the old theater character.
We went to the Ralphie May stand up comedy show at the Merced Theater in March 2014. The theater is clean, and laid out nicely. There aren't really any "bad" seats, since the theater ism't too large. We enjoyed the show, and the staff were nice & helpful.
He was so warm and genuine and his musical talents were just wonderful. We didn't want him to stop playing. The theater is so amazing since they refurbished it. All and all it was a fantastic experience. He even posed with my wonderful girlfriend for a great picture.
Saw a special showing of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" here. The handsome old building makes a movie feel like a special occasion.
Local and international; music movies and theater now come to the stage of this beautiful and modern theater. Come just to see the neon marque,,,and just across the street another vintage neon dancing 7up sign
Built in 1931 by the Reid Brothers, the Merced Theatre operated as a traditional theater until it closed in the late 1990's. Then in 1998, a local group formed the "Merced Theatre Foundation" with a goal of restoring the theater to its original glory. What made the Theatre so special was the Theatre's interior. Sitting in the Theatre was like being in a Spanish castle courtyard with blue skies and even a cloud machine. The Theatre reopened in April 2012 and now the venue for live performances, standup comedy, orchestras, and classic old movies with an admission of just $5.When not scheduled the Theatre is available to rent for weddings, training seminars, and other public use.
