We toured the ziplines and course for our upcoming family zip adventure June 2015. Can't wait to zip with Zip Yosemite. Wade was so amazing and a great tour guide!
The guides were very friendly, funny, informative and great. It was a kick watching Oso the balck lab follow his daddy all over the zip line course. It was exhilirating and beautiful. I felt very safe with them. I can't wait to go back.
Never been zip lining before, and it was a good time. The staff made it personal and entertaining. The black lab, Oso, was a nice touch. He followed is the whole way! I was with a group of adults, and the other group had two boys (10-ish). We had to wait quite a bit of time between zipping, so I wished they did something a little more to make the time pass, even if they just passed some trail mix or something. With that, taking a small snack wouldn't be a bad idea. We went in November so it got chilly up top during our excursion. Overall, I would do it again as a adult. I have 2 children at home, but don't think I'd pay that fee for them. A lot of the adventure was about the scenery. So if your kids like that, then take them, but if not, probably do something else. Highlights: Staff. Really good! And friendly. Safety: I'm a giant scardy-cat and felt secure and supported the entire time.
This is a class outfit. Competent, fun, entertaining. Felt "safe" all the while with these guys. It was a LOT of fun, we ranged in age from 25-57 and all enjoyed it.
We booked this in advance and did the Zip Wire Adventure on our last morning in Yosemite. It was an amazing way to end our time there. Our guides, Rylan & David were brilliant and we all felt very safe in their hands. We would definitely recommend this - fantastic fun!
Would definitely recommend this fun activity to anyone staying in the area! It was my first time zip lining and Steve and Tyler made us feel safe and secure at all times. Give yourself plenty of time to get there and don't rely on gps! Unfortunately our hotel had a power cut and we didn't receive the email outling directions etc so our gps sent us way off track and we ended up being 20mins late and the tour had already left. However the guys there were so accommodating and let us join a tour on the following day, which we were so grateful for! Such a great buzz being up 100ft in the trees flying through the air!
My family and I make it a point to do something we have never done whenever we go on vacation. This was one of them. I must say that we were all excited about it. Our tour was scheduled at 1:pm on August 10. But we were sort of behind our schedule and there was no way we could have made it at 1:pm since we were driving all the way from the Napa Valley. So I left a voice message requesting for a return call. Tammy called me back and consulted with the tour guides and scheduled one at 4:30 which they don't normally do. I was happy about this accommodation on their part. Our tour guides were Wade, Steven, and Tyler. They were all about everyone's safety and it was very obvious that they love what they do. They were all kind, friendly, professional. They have a way of making a first timer feel at ease and confident that nothing bad will happen to you. Our overall experience was great! We will be very happy to do this again. Another upside to this experience was Tammy stayed with my sister Grace who could not join us, drove the Polaris to an area where she could see us. This was yet another accommodation. Thank You Tammy, Wade, Steven and Tyler! Keep up the good work you guys do.
Our family of 5, 3 kids ages 12, 14, 15 had a great morning with these guys! They were very safety conscious, but it never became a hindrance to our time. Once you step foot on the first platform, you are forever connected to a tree or steel cable with a hefty carribeener (sp) clip. I was never afraid for anyone's safety. We had great time zipping. When we were finished, we walked through a ripe blackberry patch and got to pick some fresh berries. Our family had a great time and the Zip Yosemite People are great!!
Our family of 5 , 3 daughter aged 16, 19, 21. Had a great time in Yosemite Park with the team at Zip. Not challenging but great fun with some wonderful views high up in the forest. We shared our morning trip with a young family who had a fantastic time. Very safety conscious and great quality equipment.
100 feet in the air, zipping thru the beautiful Sierra Pines at 40 miles an hour - no fear.OK maybe a little but that quickly passes. The staff is totally professional, caring and morethan glad to help. At 65+ this isn't something I would think of doing, but when the opportunitycame up,off I went - and I will remember it for a lifetime. Probably not for someone who has a bad fear of heights, but for the rest of you - do it!!! The crew at Zip Yosemite made it easyand awesome, and they get to do it for a living!
Zip Yosemite is a good place for kids and beginners on a zip line. As a family of 5 having zip-lined a handful of times in the past I'd have to say this was more for beginners. Not bad at all by any means, but if you are looking for speed, this one was a tad slower giving ample time to look at the scenery! The staff was GREAT! I am so sorry I didn't catch her name, but the girl at the main desk was so accommodating and helpful! Guides Steve and Tyler are helpful, safety conscious, funny, knowledgable. Scenery was beautiful, black berry picking at the end (we caught the season) was good too. We loved the swinging bridge and rappelling. Those two things were new experiences for us. Great company and experience for families! Our kids are 9,10 & 11 and loved it!
Very professional outfit. My three girls, ages 10,13 and 14 all did the zipline and LOVED it. Beautiful scenery, great guides and no worries about safety. Top-notch ziplining company. Highly recommend it!
First, I want to say that in my profession (as a Shadow Work facilitator) I'm known as something of a safety fanatic - there is no such thing as too much safety. So when my fiance Paul wanted to go zip lining during our trip to the Yosemite area of California, safety was the first thing I thought about, and I looked around the website and read as many reviews as I could find on Trip Advisor, Yelp, etc. There seemed to be nothing to be concerned about except for my own fear of heights. I'm adventurous in some areas of my life (personal growth, for example, where I will look at pretty much anything in my psyche or background) but I'm not adventurous in physical activities and had never done anything even remotely like this (at least since climbing trees as a kid). The Zip Yosemite course is 7 zip lines and 2 rope bridges that together take you in a big "C" starting at the company's yurt office and ending a short walk away. Our two guides were Brian and Tyler, and if they hadn't been so helpful, reassuring and relaxed, this wouldn't have gone nearly as well for me, I regularly needed their support, and they never hesitated to give it or made me feel embarrassed about asking for it. They were also really fun and had obviously been doing this for a long time and had fun stories to tell. Before we left the yurt, they gave us a thorough introduction to the equipment and went over the safety rules -- there's really only one "no" and that is no turning upside-down, when you could conceivably drop out of your harness, though mine was tight enough that it was hard to imagine that happening -- and then we walked to the first tree, where we climbed up to the first platform. I wanted to go first because I knew Paul would enjoy his own ride a lot less if I hadn't yet done mine, and I was so afraid I was crying. Brian suggested sitting down in the harness to feel how it was holding me, and that - plus closing my eyes! - made it possible for me to launch. I was so relieved to get to the end, and was shaking like a leaf from the adrenaline, as I discovered when I turned and tried unsuccessfully to take a picture of Paul zipping after me. The second line, I was slightly less scared, and by the third line I was smiling and laughing, though still shaking somewhat. The first rope bridge was easier than it looked at first, the only challenge was the big step up onto the platform at the end because I'm not in shape (I'm 62). Each successive zip line was more fun as I gained confidence, and I was able to control my rotation to a degree (by twisting a buckle on the backup strap) so I could look at what I wanted to see. And I want to add about safety that the real reason I increasingly felt so safe and confident is that there was no question that safety was so much part of Brian and Tyler's regular operating procedure that there was nothing I needed to remember (other than no turning upside-down), they saw to it that everything necessary was done for safety. The final zip line is the longest (1000 feet) and fastest and goes over a meadow, through some trees and over a pond, so it's a really pretty trip. By this time I was eager to launch (though still with my eyes closed) and was only partly successful rotating the way I wanted to because it went so fast, and afterward immediately wanted to do it again, it was so fun and exciting that I was hooting with delight. I was really surprised to be disappointed that the course was over and wanted to keep going until I had gained enough confidence to have my eyes open as I left the platform. The company that runs Zip Yosemite runs a similar zip line near Starved Rock in Illinois, and we plan to try that sometime soon. I highly recommend this. Paul wanted to have videos of us zipping, and at first we found it difficult to figure out how to hold our smartphones while holding onto the harness, so Tyler took some for us, which was great, he clearly does this a lot for people and is very expert at it. By the end of the course I wasn't so shaky and was able to take a clear video of Paul doing the last few zips, and he of me.In answer to the questions about this attraction -- We wanted to have something to eat afterward but couldn't find much in the way of restaurants nearby, so we drove into Oakhurst and picked up salads at a big grocery store there. We left most our valuables in our car in the parking lot, and with staff remaining behind in the yurt we left some things there as well with no worries. There are bathrooms near the yurt at the adjacent summer camp.
We had an incredible time and would highly recommend! Great time, very professional, family fun. Tour guides were great and very friendly. Safety was NEVER a concern. The guides were accommodating, and extremely professional.
We were visiting Yosemite for a week and saw the brochure in our hotel. Called in an off the cuff type of maneuver. It was my son, my sister, her twelve yr old son, and I. We had a blast. The guides were both funny and very knowledgeable. It was exhilarating. We will be back again.
