Experienced an extraordinary display of both artists creations + wonderful gastronomic wonders from Oceanside eateries!
Just went to see the 'Naked' exhibit during the February museum month and we are now patrons. Love this gem and enjoyed all three exhibits we saw. The docents are fun, too. Not your stereotypical 'arties'. We will be going back soon.
Too bad I missed a nice opportunity to appreciate the art in this city. The only good thing about this, is that I found a Chase bank a block from this place.
On display thru 8 Feb, this is a powerful display of black and white photos of women in the area who are making a difference in their community. Each poster size photograph is accompanied by a short quotation. If you are in the area come for an hour to be encouraged by their combined and individual philosophy.
Saw the most exquisite quilt show in November. Right now a private collection of nudes is a must see !
We had a little extra time on our hands, so we decided to walk to the Oceanside Museum of Art. We were a little concerned as we were late and wondered if we could cover it all. The Museum is a little on the smaller side - but interesting art pieces were shown. We managed to cover it in about 30 to 45 minutes. As we left, other people were buying admission tickets an hour before closing, so an hour should sufficient time.
Oceanside can be very proud with its Art Museum or Oceanside Museum of Art. Located on Pier View street just behind City Hall. They bring wonderful exhibit. The museum also holds events including once a month (I believe it is on the first Sunday of the month) they have family day which they offer hands on art projects and complementary admission. The museum has a real good gift shop with inexpensive hand made work of local artists
Outstanding museum in a small beach community. HIGHLY recommend visiting and keep an eye out for the terrific evening events.
This is a surprisingly interesting museum. The current quilt shoe was filled with interesting works. Very unexpected. The upstairs silent auction items were terrific. Definitely worth a visit.
People that don't come here are really missing out. There are three large exhibition spaces in the museum, so it's not that big. Nor are there any permanent exhibitions. They change regularly throughout the year. One exhibition we saw featuring art quilts really opened our eyes and minds to that particular art form.It was an excellent show.
This is a lovely museum. It is nicely laid out. I sometimes visit to just to see the gift shop. The gift shop has some great items to buy from all over the world. The volunteers are very helpful.
We enjoyed the exhibits on the second floor. The gift shop featured work by local artisans. Highly recommend.
The Oceanside Museum of Art is a nice small art museum that has some really exceptional rotating exhibits. Definitely worth a visit and the museum hosts local artists each fall.
This is a great local museum that mounts some creative exhibitions. We saw a quilt exhibit that had some amazing pieces, a social commentary series that was "right on," and spend more than we should have in the gift shop, which is full of temptations.
The Oceanside Museum of Art is the worst art museum I've ever visited. Here you will find two kinds of phonies: Con artists posing as real artists, and their gullible marks posing as art afficionados. For an $8 admission fare you can see things like a canvas bearing offensive profanity, a crucified store-bought doll, a painting of only two solid color geometric shapes, and a sculpture consisting of three pieces of scrap plywood joined together with sheetrock nails. This kind of stuff was considered avant-garde in the 1960's, but now it’s just lazy plagiarism. There are a few decent original pieces, but not enough to redeem the experience. Thankfully, the collection is so tiny, you can see everything and escape in about 30 minutes.
