It was a lot of fun they just need snow blowers when there isnt any natural snow. Pricy, views are beautiful.
We visited Leland Snowplay today for my birthday. We had a wonderful time because the people were so great. My sister and I (both 50+) were the oldest tubers out there and just had a great time. The only negative is the price. For two hours with the tow, it was $25/each. Seemed a little pricey considering there was not much snow. If not for this, I would have given 5 circles.
Tubing was so much fun. It is a great place for a whole family. it was worth to take a day pass and spent most of the time in the snow.
I had read tons of Yelp and Trip Advisor reviews and was uncertain about going, but decided to try it - LOVED IT! Yes, I can see that if too crowded that the smaller and cheaper slopes would get hectic since they don't have monitors on each lane, but the big hill has a guard at each lane that won't let you go until it's clear. This is SOOOOOOOOOO much safer than the alternatives of stopping on the roadside with dozens of other people trying to sled and ending up a) in a tree, b) in the road, c) in the creek, or d) just wet and bored since it isn't working. I recommend that if you go, go ahead and buy the all day pass instead of the 2 hour. While you really will only play for about 2 hours, you can't do it all in a row without a break to eat. If you get the all day, then you don't feel pressured to push on and not take a break. They have a well run cafeteria that serves hot food (burgers, dogs, nachos, chili, etc) for about $8 a meal w/ fries. They also allow outside food, so many families had picnics in the dining hall. Finally, it really is at the end of the road. We had to have chains on the car to get there, and we really did need them. But, I would and will do it again.
It's a fun little place for sledding, but can get very icy in the winter. On the tow rope, your tube's hook can get unhooked from the rope, which causes you to slide down the hill. Luckily, they have attendants who can help you get re-hooked. Overall, its a fun place, especially for younger children.
My family and I spent a day at this private snow park. We did a one-day trip driving from Bay Area (4 hours drive one-way). This is our second visit to the park. The snow park is about 5 miles east of Dodge Ridge Ski Resort turn off at Hwy 108. Once you have turned off to Leland Meadows Rd, it was about 2 miles more away. The parking is free and plenty. There is a lodge where you could sit down, The lodge provides snacks and light lunch (burgers, hot dogs, chilies) with reasonable price. You are allowed to bring your own food as well but no stove or BBQ grilled. The snow park itself is pretty big. There is a tow machines which tows your tube to the top of the slope where you could ride the tube back down. The entrance free varies from weekdays to weekend. We paid $22/person for the "tow-ing". You could pay a little cheaper if you just want to walk up the slope. The tube ride down is only one direction down and it is a short ride. I wish they could design the slope which have turns and corners. It was fun for a first few rides but after that we got tired walking in a deep snow. Overall, it was a fun day trip. TIP: Arrive early. Typically crowd started to build up after noon time. Check the road condition as Hwy 108 does not have lots of traffic and the road was not plow very often. This makes the driving a little challenge if you have a small car.
